Re: MATCHWATCH : Sheffield Wednesday sponsored by Adrian Popa

Very unpredictable side Wednesday.
As with Villa having Grealish who runs games so Wednesday have Barry Bannen.
Hopefully he has an off day tomorrow and it will be helpful if Foristieri doesn't play.

Re: Those were the days...

Great post and the nostalgia comes flowing back , Dylan Kerr my Lord pulling his shirt over his head and running down the touchline one fo my all time favourites The game has changed beyond recognition from those days , predominantly for the worse and mainly due to the obscene money in the game. Ma...

Re: Those were the days...

There is so much to digest here, its literally like the last twenty years of football didn't happen, so we'll start with the easiest. The earliest I can remember is Preki at Everton and , like Robben, he scored a lot of goals. 4, 4 goals in 46 games. He was an indoor footballer before Everton and s...

Re: Those were the days...

I agree to all of this. To me this is largely down to putting wingers on the wrong wing...and it’s not just at Reading. What’s this phenomenon of playing right footed wingers on the left, and vice versa all about? Barrow & Harriott are very left-footed. So we play them on the right ... stupid! ...

Re: We're ManchesteROFL United, we do what we want

I feel the situation is a bit like when the youth team or Reserves coach gets promoted. The popular guy gets results initially as the players are happier in their surroundings, especially if an unpopular manager has gone, but so often you see them lose the job within a fairly short period. This appo...

I think it will depend upon how they do against Chelsea in the FA Cup and how well or badly they do in the next round of the Champs League.
I hope they appoint him as his past record is dire.

Re: 8 home games left.

Blackburn, Rotherham, Wigan, Leeds, Preston, Brentford, WBA, Birmingham. With the possible exception of Leeds and WBA these are all games we should be capable of getting something out of, mid table to lower reaches of the league, 24 points to play for, if for arguments sake we can get 15 points min...

Re: BFTG Villa

It's very tough to say if it was deliberate or not, only Mings will know for sure. What I'd say is if Oliveira didn't have the horrific injury nobody would be giving it a second thought. Because it is a nasty wound it clouds the judgement of many into automatically thinking it's a deliberate act. A...

Re: BFTG Villa

Not sure about the Mings incident-it was not far from us and looked to be an accident at the time. These cuts always look bad but I expect him to be o.k. by next week. As for the game, an even first half although we had our usual early good save and the opposition hitting the woodwork but our genera...

Last night's game surely puts to bed the idea that possession is everything.
Chelsea had twice as much possession, twice as many corners, the same number of shots and get tonked 4-0.
Funny old game.

He'd end up leaving by mutual consent or something. Still gets a bit of a payout. That appointment hasn't worked at all, had them nailed on to well this season. I can't quite figure Everton out. A few years ago them and Tottenham were pretty much the same club, Everton bought some quality players a...

Re: January Outs

Disappointed so far that 3 of our regulars will be going and yet those deemed surplus to requirements are still here. Why couldn't Gunter go with Bacuna to Cardiff? Come on Warnock, you know it makes sense to bring the local hero back home and he could have another relegation on his CV. It has a fee...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Aston Villa (h) sponsored by not long to desperation

Rumours are that Villa are trying to get Chalobah from Watford and/or Hayden from Newcastle. That implies to me that they lack bite in central midfield but they do still have the excellent Grealish in midfield. Hopefully our new management team is aware that Grealish is far and away the best creativ...

Latest club to be linked is Hibs https://www.edinburghlive.co.uk/sport/football/hibs-trying-sign-reading-striker-15746524 Did we really pay £1.5 million for him? With alll our deals being "undisclosed" it's only when other clubs make prices known that we get a better idea. There is a goal...

VAR getting it right in the Chelsea game, but surely Sheff Wed should get a corner following the overturned pen, rather than a drop ball? Absolutely. Similarly in the Palace game Kevin Friend didn't book the Palace player for tackling from behind when waiting for VAR to establish whether the player...

Re: CONFIMRED - Matt Miazga

We’ve got 5 options we can use at left back ! Not all perfect, not all available right now. Given our current predicament. Adequate isn't good enough. With Barrow offering little cover. Opposition managers will simply target the weakness. Playing a right footer upsets the balance of the team . Spot...

Re: RIP Johnny Walker

I used to do a football pools collection round in Tilehurst and John's wife did a coupon every week (players were not allowed to do the pools) and I used to stop at their place (on Garston's Park-it was marriage second time round for John) for a chat, nearly always about football. We left Tilehurst ...

Re: The Next 8 games - Make or Break Time

We are 6/5 to stay up, odds-on to go down. And it wasn’t the bookies I wanted to take money off... You must be able to get much better than 6/5 as Bet365 are quoting 4/9 for us to be relegated and allowing for their margin it means around 2/1 to stay up. Surely money is just money . You're joking, ...
