Re: What are you planning for Saturday?

On the basis that, of course, we're not going to win the bloody thing, a few months ago I booked a holiday to Cyprus, flying out on Sunday morning. We land 3.30pm Cyprus time, which gives us 2.5 hours from landing to get through the airport, cab to the hotel, and find a bar for the game. Should we ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Croatia (n) sponsored by two big badges

It could be that last night's rather tepid display by Croatia had a lot to do with 8 of their players being on yellow cards-none of them were booked so their first team will be available for the semi. I think it will be a very nervous game with two sides now realising that they are almost in a World...

Re: World Cup Punditry

I thought ITV's reserve commentators (John Thingamebob and Ally McCoist) were very good covering the Croatia game.
Why is it that the foreign pundits (Bilic, Klinsmann etc.)are so much better than ours and they are not even speaking their native language?

Re: MATCHWATCH : Sweden (n) sponsored by Pippy Longstocking

A strange game where Pickford made 3 match-saving saves and their keeper none and yet we were quite comfortable. One point about the Russia v Croatia game is that Russia have 5 already on yellows and Croatia 8. Whoever wins is likely to have a few out which is great news for us. Regrettably the BBC ...

Re: England’s World Cup Finals 2018

They just interviewed an England fan out in Samara on breakfast news, making a thing about how he'd taken "days" to get out there. Asked him about his journey and he said "I had to get a flight to Frankfurt then another flight out here" Don't get me wrong, fair fooks, but it's h...

Re: RUMOUR - Marc McNulty

thats how dull this window has suddenly become, that people are reduced to making lame jokes about golfers with similar names Saw the golfer Mc Nulty playing in the Monaco Open some years ago-the highlight of that day was meeting Sharon Stone, but that's another story. Ooh really. Did she cross her...

Re: VAR

So, in essence, rather than the ref making an instant decision rightly or wrongly, he now gets to stop play, think about it and then make a decision rightly or wrongly. Therefore all that’s happened is the game gets stopped unnecessarily while it takes longer to establish the same controversial dec...

Re: R16: Colombia v England

Didn't Pickford go to his right and save with his left as he tried to do with the Belgium goal? The penalty save saw him dive low to his right and save with his left hand as the ball was going quite central, making his left hand not only the closest to the ball but the only one that could have got ...

Re: R16: Colombia v England

I’m watching the penalties again and having a little cry to myself. ICH I have no issue with admitting that I had a tear in my eye when Dier scored the winning penalty. My sister was full on crying  My 7 year old was so stressed. Brilliant to see him into it like this. He was proper stressing,...

his "wrong" hand-something that the so-called "experts" castigated him for in the Belgium game but little comment last night. Little comment because it wasn't the wrong hand Victor. Interesting that they really had spent loads of time taking taking penalties at the end of traini...

Re: R16: Colombia v England

A really exciting night spoilt by the whole ITV set-up. Commentary by Tyldesley the usual tosh and never seeing an English player commit a foul. Hoddle-praising everything England did as if we were cruising it 6-0. As for the studio-too much about what Wrighty and co were doing when we were taking p...

As Spurs are now about to win the World Cup (Trippier,Alli, Kane plus Dier and Rose as back-up) as West Ham did in 1966 how about the Hoddle/Waddle twaddle song?

Re: Liam Moore to Brighton

I don't think we need the money, otherwise we would've accept £8m+ add ons almost instantly. Remember we've not spent a penny in the transfer window yet, and are pretty good with FFP from what I can see. Although I feel that Liam is being massively overvalued based on last season's form I am glad t...

Re: BETTING THREAD - 2018 World Cup

Surely Russia will raise their game if only for the opening fixture of a home World Cup or will they do like we did (IIRC) in 1966 and produce a dull stalemate of 0-0? On top goalscorers betting I think it is difficult especially with Brazil likely to share the goals around-maybe Lukaku to get a few...

Re: Rumour: Stephen Ireland

I think the marketing people at the club will be asking the Football League shortly to change our name to London Irish. Justification will be that we have more Irish players than the rugby team and that nowadays Reading is almost a London suburb.. The shame is that unlike in the days of Long and Doy...

Re: CONFIMRED - David Meyler

I see alot of people talking about his 'character'. Any specific evidence of this? You don't make someone Captain of the Republic of Ireland Team without having certain qualities. Last year far too often. We looked totally bereft of fight. What qualities would those be? Frankly dubious about the si...
