Re: Jordan Obita out for the season

Disappointing and frustrating, but not wholly unsurprising. Blackett's had some decent performances on the left despite having a couple of recent nightmares. He's a better crosser than Gunter and more positive, but rather more error prone. Richards hasn't looked anything other than adequate to sit o...

Re: Gunter

They've been uninspiring and ground out, but the majority of England's wins have been verging on inevitable. Nothing flukey about them.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Leeds United (a) sponsored by a deep dark realisation that this way creeps

Why is everyone being pathetic and shitting themselves at the prospect of this very winnable fixture? Off the top of my head: We're shit We're shit away Leeds are violent thugs Leeds are at the opposite wnd of the table to us Leeds will be extra motivated to put one over us and Stam after last seas...

Even if we sold everyone, we'd only end up resigning oxf*rd Chris Gunter.

Re: Best loan signing

kishnashvili Nope. Utter turd in the playoff final Don't know about him, but Khizanishvili was pretty good until the PO. Upson and Bertrand for me. Although I think I remember being slightly underwhelmed at Bertrand whilst everyone creamed over him. I blame Rodgers putting me on a downer. And being...

Re: Worst ever Reading Player

the winger who played at start of Coppell era cant think of his name. Paul Brooker or Scott Murray? I'd have thought Brooker, who was a useless streak of piss, whereas Murray just didn't like leaving Bristol. As I recall, Brooker used to bottle 70-30s in his favour and barely ever beat his man or p...

That's a lot of empty seats until end of November ? difficult one for the board, stick or twist, shit or bust ? ... Meh, half of them are paid for already and a quarter wouldn't be filled most weeks regardless. IR's rules for management sacking: 1) Failure to achieve goals after three years 2) Seri...

Re: Theoretical: Sack Stam and replace with ...?

How long do you give him to refloat the sinking ship ? I don’t think it’s as simple as that. You could say if we don’t get a win in the next 4 but I think that doesn’t really get to the issue Stam has to learn from the past month. If we are still playing static unadventurous football but scrape a w...

Surely more important they follow the same ethos ie patient short passing rather than route one / direct wing play / spoiler counterattacking etc than the exact shape is replicated.

Tbf watching England tonight is pretty bloody similar Even down to the half hearted booing Actually thought Reading have been better than England's showing last night. The product on view may not be great but not losing/winning makes quite a significant difference IMO We beat Gillingham, the only t...

Re: What former players would you bring back?

I'm guessing you meant players actually currently playing - in which case the only feasible, (and that's a stretch), would be Shane Long. Coming to the end of his career now, (Jeez I feel old - remember him starting out scoring twice in our 5-0 demo of Derby County in 2005-6??? Where has the time g...

Re: It is all Grimsby's fault!

Same thing happened when those oxf*rd Sunderland couldn't fulfill a game in 12/13. It meant we went 3 and a half weeks without a fixture and lost all the momentum of our promotion - plus we ended up having to go to Sunderland on a Tuesday in December. Federici losing us 3 points by diving over the ...

Re: Gunter

Whilst I was thinking about it I had a look at Gunter's crossing accuracy stats: This season it's 9%, compared to 56% for Blackett and 25% for Obita (from 23, 18 and 8 crosses respectively). Across their Reading Championship careers it works out roughly like this: Player / 90 min Equiv / crosses / ...

Re: In or Out?

I'm in the out camp or if he stays Stam has to very much raise his game this season. His first mistake was a very much understated pre-season with his behind closed doors games, only one public friendly and in my view he was 2 or 3 games short in bring fully prepared. This was confirmed with a lous...
