Re: Summer Transfers

On paper you could play 4-42 if you played Meyler and Bacuna maybe in CM You wouldn’t have much creativity through the middle though. Nope. You’d be relying on getting it out wide and crosses in. Very much in a McDermott promotion tactic with two players sitting spoiling, capitalising on opposition...

Re: Three at the back

Not really. It leaves a question mark over what you do with Barrow, and with Obita injured we don't really have a decent left wing back. It's certainly something we should consider building towards as we've got a range of pretty decent centrebacks and central midfielders and not many wingers who are...

Tilehurstsouthbank Good move for all concerned. Get him fit again. There's a decent fullback in there somewhere.

Thanks Yann.

Shame Stam decided to prematurely extend the contract, but good that Clement has acted sensibly here.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Sweden (n) sponsored by Pippy Longstocking

Watched the game at the Three Lions in Milwaukee and a local Fox 6 News team were there throughout. Brilliant day mixing it with ex-pats from Blackburn, Manchester, Rochdale, Stockport, Bromley, Birmingham and all over. Bar was at its three hundred capacity an hour before kick off. The cameraman (o...

Agree in the case of Lallana and Ox, Hoop. Not sure about Barkley, but no chance Sturridge.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Croatia (n) sponsored by two big badges

I think Croatia have world class midfielders who haven't really performed that well and people are worried about them based on reputation rather than what they've actually done since the group stage. Even the comprehensive victory of Argentina looks rather less impressive in light of the Argies othe...

Re: Wimbledon

Didn't we look dog shit in our 106 pre-season? I did ask in another thread and I think it was mentioned we might have lost to Farnborough. Now I could get one of the 05/06 programmes out of the attic to confirm but right now I'm not sure. We scored about a million goals on our pre-season tour of Sw...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Croatia (n) sponsored by two big badges

Croatia have been stifled by the expectation and pressure and haven't really been playing very well in the knockout rounds IMO. They look vulnerable at the back and rather workmanlike going forward. I think we've got a pretty good chance. Kane, Maguire and Stones could eat Vida and Lovren for breakf...

Re: World Cup Punditry

Neville has annoyed me too. He loves to say things that will cause a stir and often gives an anti-opinion just to get some interaction on Twitter. Last night he was criticising the Croatian keeper for letting in that first Russian goal. Is he oxf*rd mad? It bent in from distance and went like a roc...

Re: England’s World Cup Finals 2018

Semi's is success no matter what. But. With this side of the draw, you don't make the Final and you'll always think "What might have been, if only we'd played at our level and beaten x"

Sterling still can't finish his dinner but that was a far improved performance from him. Alli also improved after the goal.

Trippier has been outstanding. Pickford has done everything you could ask and more.

Re: Wimbledon

Pre-season is exactly the time to try out different combinations in a match environment and at this stage it's all about fitness.

We started last year underprepared and under fit and it showed.

No point signalling to half your squad they're not in your first XI plans in early pre-season either.

Thank god the ref was Mr Even it up - Henderson could / should of easily been off as well. Clearly I'm biased, but the two incidents were entirely different in my opinion. Colombian player deliberately headbutts Henderson in the chest - not that bad not really worthy of a red, but it is pushing int...

Re: CONFIMRED - Marc McNulty

Step up in defending quality is likely to be difficult for him and I can see him getting bullied by some of the bigger meaner CBs. That's an impressive pen taking ability from quite a long quick run up, and not all at the same spot either. Good range of finishes, not the quickest but seems able to ...
