Re: Rival Watch

The football world will be celebrating tonight. Although it’s slightly odd for us to be laughing given that like Leeds we only stayed in the division by a fairly fine margin. They remain the best team I saw last season which kind of makes them falling apart again even more special..... Yep - althou...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

If you look at the times we got promoted, we did it with a certain ethos. Young, hungry hard working players on the cheap from lower leagues (Kitson, Doyle, Long, Le Fondre, the list could go on). Maybe under McDermott, we didn't have a "young" side but certainly players with the correct ...

Re: The Playoffs 2018/19 edition

So FLDC become my preferred choice then as Villa need to get their financial comeuppance and WBA are long gone.

LOL at Leeds again.

Re: STs for season 2019/2020

Yeah, also read for people who move and don't want to stand all game. If you want to sit down and not sing all game, the South isn't for you. That's not to say you can't go there, but you won't see much, you won't fit in well and you may well cause aggravation, especially if you complained to the st...

Re: Rumour - Josh Morris

He is more of an attacking mid I gather. Broke his leg last year hence the smaller number of appearances. Very good record the two previous seasons. On paper would look a good signing Why would anyone chose us over Millwall and QPR though ? Would signing him suggest we’re cashing in on Barrow ? Whe...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Harsh not to credit McDermott for the continued use of Karacan and Robson-Kanu just because they'd played a bit before him. Bringing Academy players through isn't just about handing out debuts. The departure of Adkins and arrival of Clarke did seem to me to bring a downwards trend in Academy graduat...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

Counting clearances is a fooking awful way of assessing how good someone is with positioning and cross stopping anyway.

The only things Gunter is better at than Blackett is fitness and concentration.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Sign a first choice keeper and have Ward and Southwood as back up seems entirely plausible. The only thing Walker gives us that the other two don't is a few inches. Actually wrote the wrong thing - I meant maybe try and move on one of them, not both. I think the problem with that is the 2nd choice ...

Re: McShane leaves

Can't think of another player that let us down at crucial times as often as he did tbf. See ya. Name all those times then. Or was this just a lazy throwaway comment because he isn’t the player he was 2 years ago? I'm convinced hair colour is a factor for some. Barrow has let us down. So has Meite (...

Re: STs for season 2019/2020

I think Cambridge is about £340.

I know we haven't won many home games regularly for years, but the value is crazy for the level.

Re: Ex Players

Not surprised Clement had them "running their arses off" given how badly we often finished games under Stam. I'm sure breezing through skills based training with the kids was a lot more fun. I like Joey and I know the Dutch tend to be quite blunt. And waiting until the first day of pre-sea...

CountryRoyal Might have gotten out on the wrong side of the bed this morning, which I always think is quite impressive considering one side of my bed is against a wall.

I'd be grumpy too if I woke up and then immediately rolled my face into a wall. :)

Re: Rumour - Diamond Milan Edwards to Roma or Southampton

Well the little shit can fcuk off then. With our track record of brining youth through the first team there’s no reason to leave. Obviously too big for his boots but not surprising with a name like Diamond. Hope he’s working in McDonald’s in 3 years playing non league. Everything ok at home CR?

Re: The Playoffs 2018/19 edition

What has happened to the quality of refereeing? Now, I actually agree that the appropriate outcome of Klich's headbutt and the much earlier two footed lunge that cleanly took the ball by Tomori(?) was reached by the ref. But by the laws as laid out (as I understand them) both are nailed on red cards...

Re: Rumour - Diamond Milan Edwards to Roma or Southampton

72 bus
CountryRoyal We should just give him a pro contract and then if he still wants to go abroad loan him out.

We made him an offer and he's turned it down

I expect the club's chasing him also wouldn't be interested in a short term loan.

Re: McShane leaves

I've been very dismissive of and anti McShane the last few months. But now he's no longer with us, I don't have to be frustrated and upset at him being on our books and no longer good enough. I don't have to worry about him being on the pitch and losing us points like Blackburn away. Now he's no lon...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

Agree with this. There are plenty of players we can move on who are barely involved in the match day squad. These two may not be automatic starters but they play a part. They are highly experienced. We need balance. It can't just be about bringing in our academy players alongside three or four seni...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

That's all great, but not the point. The club needs to cut costs, both of them last got a contract when we were still looking at going back up and FFP was less of a concern, and having been originally signed for the PL. Can we realistically afford their level of wage for back up players? Hence prime...

Re: Meaningless Stats and Trivia from 2017/18 - 1

Rhino played, what, 18 games and picked up about four fouls per game. Sounds like oppose realised he had to be stopped! Rino has a real habit of inviting pressure, sometimes through a loose first touch, other times just showing the ball and then getting his body in between ball and challenge. Often...
