Re: Players you'd like us to sign thread

Derby just signed Dave Nugent.

Considering he's pissed off Fulham's fanbase and there being no room back at Derby, could we go in for Chris Martin?

Re: Rumour - Tiago Ilori

Fun fact: he holds the Sporting Lisbon youth sprint record- previously held by a certain C. Ronaldo and Nani.

Re: We Need a Striker!!

Funny I was wondering about Bamford as well. Had a great season for Boro but obviously can't cut it in the Prem yet. Don't know if his loan to Burnley can be cut short though, so something to consider for next season perhaps.

Re: We Need a Striker!!

Boro have signed Gestede, which means that a move for Jordan Rhodes will be on the radar of most teams in the top half of the championship. Can't argue with his scoring record.

Re: January Rumours

There is also, apparently, a possibility of Reading getting a loan of an Argentine striker who currently holds an EU passport. Believe Reading4eva raised a "bloke down the pub" thread in this very forum recently which some were quick to dismiss. Perhaps there might actually be something i...

Re: Rumour - Scott Hogan

I would be loathe to pay £9,000,000 for a Hogan, but as mentioned above we're now in an era of silly money due to parachute payments and trickle down from the Prem. Proven quality up front will be hard to find sub £5 million. But that something like this has come out at least indicates there should ...

Re: We Need a Striker!!

Afobe joined Bournemouth for £10M less than a year ago. have I missed something or are people actually suggesting that this is our new level of transfer?? Bournemouth overpaid (as they are wont to do) and his stock has fallen since then, although I agree I'll be surprised if we can afford him. I ju...

Re: We Need a Striker!!

I'm reasonably confident about what January will bring. The Thais backed Steve Clarke in the transfer market, got burnt, and probably thought they'd wait and see how Stam does before loosening the purse strings. Now that Stam has proved himself beyond almost anybodies' expectations thus far, I'd be ...

How did the Kermorgant-McCleary partnership look?
This was the first time Kermie has played since we've gone 3-5-2 I believe.

Re: Benik Afobe

Literally exactly the player we need. If we signed him and he stayed fit, I'd be confident of play-offs this season.

However, would we spend the >£5 million it would require? It would certainly be a signal of intent by the Thais.

Re: Rumour - Lewis Grabban

Bristol City have signed young Swedish striker Gustav Engvall. "A big signing" for them according to Lee Johnson.
Presumably that's them out of the Grabban race.

Re: We Need a Striker!!

ALF off to Wigan.

Wouldn't have fitted our system these days, but a shame how he's struggled to do much since he left, except at Bolton who couldn't afford him.

Re: Williams to Wolves

Very useful money to go towards strengthening up front.

I like Williams, but we now have quite a few midfield options and he'll be one of the higher earners.

Auf Wiedersehn from me.

Re: Rumour - Lewis Grabban

Unless Tevereden has a magic wand or the Stam effect attracts the player , I don't see this happening. Stam won't make a difference if it's a permanent deal. We'll never stump up enough cash for that to make a difference. Agreed. The limiting factor is very much us being willing to meet Bournemouth...

Re: Rumour - Lewis Grabban

Exactly what we need- a mobile striker, proven at this level. But as has been posted previously, I don't think we're realistically in a position to sign him. Bournemouth will want to recoup the ludicrous money they spent on re-signing him from Norwich, and they know that Bristol City have 8 figures ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Brighton & HA (h) sponsored by big club syndrome

Royal Ginger If Van Den Berg hadn't been sent off, Kermorgant would have. Uneccecery 2 footed revenge tackle making no attempt at the ball that you could see coming 10 yards away. There was no need for that.

Would have solved another selection dilemma a la VDB.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Brighton & HA (h) sponsored by big club syndrome

Have all our league goals so far been from set pieces?

If so, it's both an impressive improvement from the last few seasons and an indictment of our strikers.
