Re: Ex Players

It was definitely in the Elm Park days.

I think a lot of the interest around him was down to the fact that it was only an injury that prevented him being on the Zambian team plane that crashed, killing everyone on board.

They were tipped to win the 1994 ACON.

Re: Giant Ruben flag...

Yeah, but it sets you up to fail given that most seasons, no one achieves it. I'm all for setting targets but not stupid ones that are largely unachievable. To the outsider, it makes you look like an idiot. 70 sounds good but when you target 100 you needed to score 40% more goals. Anyway, my general...

Re: Giant Ruben flag...

Didn't Adkins make a rod for his own back by making ridiculous claims like we were going to score 100 goals that season? I certainly remember when Selles was appointed that the general consensus was that he was a joke appointment. There were very few people even saying give the bloke a chance. Defin...

Re: Weekend Football

Something ominous about City swatting aside a very good Villa team last night. And this is now Foden's best goalscoring season by some distance, he has 21 in all competitions. On the wider Premier League, it's encouraging that, even in Kane's absence, six of the top ten goalscorers - Solanke, Bowen...

Re: Do you ever wear a football shirt?

Haven't worn one for about 15 years.

My missus bought me the 150 year one a couple of years ago. Can't remember ever putting it on.

Re: Record Watch 23/24

Labouring the point a bit now, lads.

Anyway, to return to the original point, ours is a Football League record and the Football League is a fully full time league, whereas all divisions below are not. It's a clear and obvious point of demarcation.

Re: Record Watch 23/24

When there were two types of leagues there wasn't any semi professional teams as no player was allowed to be paid in the amateur clubs/league. There were allowed to be paid for "expenses", which I think became such a minefield that Amateur was dropped by the FA and allowed all clubs to pa...

I'm surprised it only took him a month to come up with that biting retort.

I guess typing with a head wand is quite tricky.

Sorry, I look at that design and all I can think of is Ashley Giles and I secretly start hoping for an amusing spelling mistake.

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

Opposite end of the scale to Everton is Brighton, who have released their accounts showing last financial year they made a profit of £123M and that doesn't even include the money for Caicedo or Sanchez Apparently that's a Premier League record. Even though it doesn't include money for Caicedo or Sa...

Re: The Magic Number Thread

Not if points deductions come into play….. I'm not aware of deductions being applied retrospectively after the last game of the season. I hope I'm not wrong! I seem to remember Wigan having points deducted after the season ended or was it just before the last game? It was only a few seasons ago but...

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

Warnock's available isn't he... And has gone public that he would have taken the caretaker role if they'd offered it. Argyle were probably put off by the shitshow of complacency and arrogance that was his brief spell in Aberdeen. They could have offered Derek Adams a chance to return. The highlight...

Re: Embargos, HMRC Payment defaults, non payment of wages, the usual under Dai Wrongge

He seems to think he had a legal case because the suspended part of the 12 point penalty got applied later, even though it didn't get applied until March of the following season, because we hadn't breached our business plan until then. Arguably we'd chosen to breach it before we signed it and certa...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

In the unlikely event that Celtic lose would Rodgers get the sack? why would it be unlikely? I don't really follow it at all so I may well be missing something, but Rangers are doing better than them in the league and they are at home Because their record against Celtic in the last couple of years ...

Not a great result but everyone from 20th down lost. Looking at the remaining fixtures: Cheltenham. 7 games in 3 weeks, last 3 against teams chasing the play offs and they are also away to Burton. Port Vale - still to play away to Peterborough and Bolton. Have Cambridge on the final day Burton- next...

Re: Football Rel8d Gripes

The reaction of football fans to something small and inconsequential Footballer puts ball an inch outside the corner quadrant thing. Fans nearest absolutely lose their minds, going apesh*t crazy and insulting the player. Immediately reminded my of this clip. 5:00 onwards. https://youtu.be/C-q1h8TJS...

Clyde1998 Out of interest, where do people get these sort of flags made?

There's a few companies in Reading that do large scale vinyl printing.
