Re: How Long Will BM Last at this rate?????

Rubbish - Bodgers was taking us one way - into league 1. That's why he was sacked. Furthermore, the board obviously struggled with the decision as there was plenty of mutual respect between BR & JM at the play-off final & no bad words spoken. John Madejski didn't want to sack him, it was al...

Re: Constant Away Supporters in the Home End

I always find this argument a bit pot, kettle, black. We as a club have sat in the home ends during big games we didn't want to miss out on. You only need look at Birmingham last season for the most recent example! Every game in the Premier League is a big game. If the demand was there from the home...

Re: Everton (h) match thread sponsored by Chocolate Eclairs

I agree Gorkss needs to come out of the side and Pearce should come back in, but expecting Brian McDermott to make 2 changes after winning his first game is ridiculous. Unless injuries dictate the change, it's highly unlikely. Also chopping and changing the team every week isn't helping things. We n...

You're expecting our under pressure manager to make two defensive changes after we won our first game of the season?

Re: Adam le Fondre - proving many wrong

Still only 1 goal from open play. Better game from him today, but still a lot to prove at this level. They've all got a lot to prove at this level, but his performance today was superb. Down the right he caused numerous problems, and had he had a run in the side before today, he maywell have helped...

I thought he was outstanding today, and his height is a real asset defensively and offensively. But as mentioned, he needs someone better than Gorkss along side him. Some of his tackles were phenomenal.

"The new owner came in saying he has ambitions to hit the top 6/10, and yet we go for cheap option players". Hicksie_Fan The booing is a result of bullshit from Anton from basically. People pay outrageous prices for tickets/travel ect whilst players get paid outrageous amounts Why is it a...

windermere_royal 3 months too late, we could have got Jordan Rhodes as part of the deal.

Church was offered as part of a deal but it was still deemed not enough.

Re: Alex Pearce

The greedy player comment is interesting considering Pogrebnyak is on around 38k a week. I'd argue in Pearce's defence for asking for more money, and the same for any Reading player now. The club created their own problem when they brought Pogrebnyak in on that money.

Re: Team for QPR

I'm not so sure that many of the fringe players travel on the coach to first team games. If Dominic Samuels tweet of 'On the coach on route to the hotel, QPR tomorrow' is anything to go by. We may well see him on the bench tomorrow being as Le Fondre played for the U21's. What has Le Fondre done wr...

Re: Safe Standing - Another Step Forward

Someone explain the rake thing to me..... if everyone stands then everyone gets a view (i.e. at the start, at pens etc.). surely its fine?? This might be useful from the Club Policies thread. To answer the last question - at a FSF meeting in Manchester. To answer the questions about capacity of saf...

Re: Jason Roberts...Do you sometimes find him annoying?!

Well, personally, and this may be controversial to some people, I think Roberts just wants to raise his profile for when he retires, probably at the end of the season - so that the "media" will want to talk to HIM about all things racist and not Clarke Carlisle. Or something along those l...

Re: Newsflash from Norway: Roberts on the front cover!

I have never seen a Reading player on the front cover of a Norwegian newspaper. Link under: http://fotball.aftenposten.no/england/article254342.ece The link is on the front cover of the web-page. Roberts is claiming he will not wear the Kick it out t-shirt for the Liverpool game. ( I assume he nows...

Re: TSI - The Promises, Policies & Progress Thread

And yet weren't we told that it would always be the Madejski stadium in honour of Sir John? Or did I dream that? In any case, I shall ALWAYS refer to it as the Mad Stad. So stick that "the man". Chris Samuelson wouldn't rule it out and said stadium sponsorship was a possibility in the fut...

Re: Not much money in the summer

Ian: Many clubs were fighting for Pogs signature. Reading won. Do you think Pog aspires to play Championship football? Or course not, so he has most likely demaned a get out cause in his contract. Anything other would be strange. Pogrebnyak wanted a relegation release clause. We wanted him to stay ...

Re: Not much money in the summer

When did the club say there was going to be a lot of money invested in the playing staff? The club repeatedly played down that we would spend big. They have said we will continue to be prudent in the transfer market, and in the future will hope the academy provides more first. Cool, so what's chang...

Re: Not much money in the summer

As said by McD after the Swansea game and reported in the Independant. McDermott beamed: "It's a fantastic record. I'll have to ask him what happened with the other three shots! Pavel's been a great signing for us. We knew what he was all about from last summer. We didn't have much money to sp...
