Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Lost both games since Marshall took up 1st team duties. ..and Rinomhota & Loader have taken up 1st team duties. They’re missed. They've both been in the first team a little while longer, but yeah it will have some impact. Suspect if McIntyreand Osho had played today we’d have benefitted, althou...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Rotherham United (a) sponsored by Dick Habbin

We just can't seem to grind a result out. Seeing players interviewed on local media TV/radio this week on the clubs present predicament of no manager they simply don't seem bothered. We're in a relegation fight and we need fighters , scrappers , players prepared to run through brick walls and get a...

Re: Injury & Suspension Watch : 2018/2019

Back end of last season I was at the training ground and Harriott was working in his own doing endless fitness drills. When he finished he came over and said hello. He came across as a really nice guy. He was really frustrated at being out for so long and spoke well abouthow much it meant to him jus...

Re: New Manager

Tim Sherwood would be just fine with me. Apart from pure ignorance I cannot see any reason why Reading fans could possibly dismiss him as a candidate. Yeah must be ignorant to not want someone here who has failed as both a manager and DOF and that hasn't coached a team since 2015. Must be ignorance...

Re: New Manager

My fear is that Howe has seen us succeed on the cheap (relatively speaking) under Coppell and McDermott and may be looking for a manager to emulate that, However we kind of need a quick fix to at least get out of danger and that may cost a few quid. Surely Howe will be recruiting to match the spec ...

Re: New Manager

Where ones this idea that it was NH’s idea to sack Clement come from ? Was it his idea to sack Gourlay ? Much more likely that the owners decided that their various senior staff weren’t delivering and needed to be replaced, so they removed Gourlay, replaced him with NH and told NH his first job was ...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Josh Barrett returning to Reading after 7 appearances and no goals at Aldershot, not sure where he can go from here after the ill fated league 2 loan period at Coventry. A Shots fan I know absolutely raved about Osho and was really disappointed we had recalled him. He said Barrett swung between loo...

Re: New Manager

Wow, tough on Hammond to have been sacked twice by the Baggies ! Obviously makes his return rather simpler.
Still think Tevrenden is obvious. He was clearly moved because he didn’t fit with Gourlay but not sacked so the owners must think well of him. He knows the club.

Re: New Manager

Surely it is much more likely that Tevrenden will return from exile than Hammond will Return ? Hammond is still at WBA. Isn’t he ? So we’d have to persuade him to leave a job for one wherehe’d Probably be paid less and potentially have to pay WBA compensation (although depends on his employment stat...

Re: Nigel Howe appointed new CEO

What, if anything, did Nani do for RFC other than draw a (presumbly large) wage? To be fair to him, assuming his main role was managing player recruitment, he has had no chance to do much. Appointed after one window closed, gone before the next one opens. He may have got deals lined up ahead of Jan...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Does the ‘England eligible’ criteria apply only once a player has committed to another country at full international level ? Liam Kelly played for Ireland at youth level, would that have made him Irish. He’s not played for their full team so is also eligible for Ireland. Danny Loader has played for ...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Training Ground Guru have done an analysis of Academies in terms of how many players they have produced, and have ranked us 14th. which is pretty decent I think. Have a look https://trainingground.guru/articles/academy-productivity-rankings-2017/18 Interesting that only England eligible players are...

Classic case of nepotism.

He’s only got the job because his son plays for the U23’s.

I hear Danny Loader’s mum has been offered the manager’s job.

Re: Clement

Would be amazed if any player contract ever included a clause that the player HAD to be selected for every game irrespective of form, attitude, team needs etc. Would be simply impossible to achieve. Contracts last 3 or more years, you just couldn’t give that guarantee for that time period. A compuls...

I’d certainly give Tammy Abraham a place on our bench if they had to unload him.

I don’t think RFC ever owned Hogwood. I think SJM bought it and leased it to the club. Believe he sold it but not sure which owner he passed it on to.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

I think teddy Howe has come on hugely this season. Was never over impressed by him before but seems to get better each game. He’s a very modern full back in that he does most of his good work going forward, he’s a competent defender but not amazing. He works well with our clutch of truely exciting c...

Seen them given.

Surely that’s dangerous play, which is an indirect free kick, not a penalty.
