Re: Next Manager

If Bowen is appointed it's a complete and utter effing joke. The guy has been a serial failure as Assistant Manager to his mate Mark Hughes. Furthermore, as Sporting Director IMO he's every bit as much to blame for the poor start to the season as Gomes and his coaching team. He then compounds that ...

Re: Next Manager

Must admit it is impressive that this likely appointment is going to piss off a lot of people who feel into 2 camps:

1. Those that want continuity - what offers more continuity that giving the job to the man brought in to work with the deaparted manager
2. Those that wanted something very different.

Re: Next Manager

Apparently he interviewed well at Swansea last year but they, understandably, went for Potter. If this was an external appointment, I think there would be more understanding. An experienced, highly rated coach who is looking at moving into management. A risky move but potentially an ambitious one t...

Re: Next Manager

You lot are unbelievable. Give the guy a chance. Beat Preston on Saturday. Top six by Christmas. Uuuuurrrrrzzzzzz ! Yep totally gets my support if named. Could be argued this is very much a "Reading Way" appointment. Get rid of a manager that isn't working and replace him with somebody el...

Re: Next Manager

Just a quick question but does anybody know if Mark Bowen has links to Kia Joorabchian i.e. does he retain him as an adviser/agent?

Re: Next Manager

slightly surprised that Daniel Stendel hasn't got more of a mention actually. Would seemingly fit the bill fairly well - being available, good career record so far, but not being a massive shift from the Gomes type model Just don't see the club replacing a manager who they fired for having us in th...

Re: Next Manager

Stanage how noone is mentioning Gareth Ainsworth. Managed Wycombe since 2012 and done well considering virtually no budget. Won a promotion from League couple seasons ago and his side are currently 2nd in League 1 which considering how many big teams are there is nothing short of a miracle. Maybe b...

Re: Next Manager

Interesting that Bowen has gone right out very quickly. Hughes back to favourite. Roy Keane? Maybe. Be a gamble but yeah there is a bit of me that would like to see it. It might work Won Sunderland promotion having taken them over as the bottom placed club - so has shown it can turn around a shoddy...

Re: Next Manager

With Bowen at the helm its 100% going to be Mark Hughes lol I heard on the radio this morning that Mark Bowen may take the role himself.... which would be interesting if he's the one in charge of finding a new manager I've scoured the market, considered relative strengths and weaknesses and conclud...

Re: GOMES OUT!

Where did people expect us to be? Not in the relegation zone........... 9 wins in 38 games. Please argue thats good enough. I don't know why, but for some bizarre reason I have it in my head that he came in with only 9-10 games to go and kept us up. It's only when Dellor said on the radio that he h...

Re: GOMES OUT!

Poor decision imo I'm not sure what people are expecting from constantly sacking average managers every few months and getting in more average managers to replace them. I would have thought breaking from this flatline is the obvious path to improvement, and as we can't ever break it by getting in a...

Re: Next Manager

Actually got them playing pretty decent football whilst getting better results iirc. I doubt there's many club's of Stoke's size that make many more than 15 years unbroken in the PL and they must have been close to that if not beyond it. It only takes one season of bad recruitment and your blown. T...

Re: Next Manager

46.8% is pretty oxf*rd inspiring. 36% at Stoke across 200 games. That would be bloody brilliant here after the last two seasons. I may be wrong here but did he not start very strongly at stoke then slowly get awful? Obviously I would take a strong start and a 36% win rate provided the draw rate was...

Re: GOMES OUT!

As per a tweet, Gomes has the lowest win % of any Reading manager who has managed a minimum of 35 games in over a century.

Re: Next Manager

Hughes is UTTERDOGSHIT What a shambles He really, really isn't. He had a terrible time at Soton at the start of last season but had kept them up the season before. He has a Premier League win ratio of 38% in over 500 games - which equates to an average PL season of around 46 to 48 points which for ...

Re: Next Manager

Given our last 3 appointments have been men with little to no experience of managing at our level (or at all) - I think we can safely assume they are going to go with someone with extensive experience of the English game at this level or above. We won't be taking a "gamble" on someone lik...

windermereROYAL Does seem odd there`s nothing from the club yet.

Could be that they are finalising the severance package or are close to finalising his replacement and want to announce that? Fingers burnt after the post-Clement search.

Re: Next Manager

Ian Holloway is available and being talked up by our own Charlie Adam for the Sunderland job. Holloway was interviewed earlier on Talksport and it sounds like he would be keen to get back into management, Sunderland and Millwall were both discussed. If there was ever a reason to want Mark Hughes to...
