Re: FA Youth cup 2023/24

Our last memorable FA Youth Cup run was around 2014 I think? The wasted generation for whom plenty went on to have good careers away from Reading. Kuhl and Tanner sadly fell away, but it contained Dickie, Stacey and Fosu among others. Let's hope we use this generation better. Tanner was the year ab...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Carlisle United (h)

I feel like Ehibhatiomhan more than deserves some more starts. What about: Azeez...........Knibbs...........Smith ..............Ehibhatiomhan :?: Or switch Knibbs and Smith? I'd definitely start Vickers ahead of Mukairu. He uses the ball so well. Him, Craig and Abbey I don't think age really mature...

Re: Injury watch 2023/24

Assuming we could get a Saudi club interested in Ejaria (did he play for Gerrard at Rangers?), we’d still need to get Ejaria interested in moving there.

Think they’ve generally filled their squads with a better class of player.

tidus_mi2 Honestly when I saw the surname I thought this might be another Yermas Dildo.

Relebophile sounds like a euphemism for incest, and Mofokeng speaks for itself.

Re: Watney Cup

I think it was the first game my dad ever went to. His dad was more interested in horses, but one of dad's friends told him that Charlton and Best were going to be playing and he nagged granddad into taking him.

All those years later he's still a season ticket holder.

Re: Ex Players

What's the story on us losing him and other youngsters to City? I thought EPPP put geographical restrictions on making teenagers uproot their life and move up north. Plus, we're category 1 so how are PL teams allowed simply to poach our brightest prospects? I don't think we released him, so did Cit...

Re: Stewards alleged to be groping fans

Don't think we should be making light of sexual assault. If you personally have been groped and not minded then fair enough, but personally for me it isn't something funny or enjoyable, and I don't think making light of it helps the victims. Obvs saying that without prejudging this particular case, ...

Re: Injury watch 2023/24

There's a post on Twitter claiming that after Ejaria refused to go on at Hull he left the ground there and then in his track suit and got the train home. The same post claims he has lunch away from the players in his car. Saw that, quite an interesting read - https://twitter.com/ThomasH_1871/status...

Re: You’re too small!

Wickham wasn’t released, his family moved out of our catchment area so we weren’t allowed to keep him. I can believe that Austin and Eze -and Shandon Baptiste were all told that they were too small, but I don’t think that was the real reason. I think it’s just a nice way of saying “not good enough”....

Mid Sussex Royal
Sutekh Bindon should be back for Notlob, Ejaria not back training yet, still struggling with his knee problem.

Thought he'd had surgery to clear it up

It was fatal.

Re: I agree with Robbie Savage

We all love xG stats. By their measure we are 12th best at creating chances at 6.65 xG, but we have only scored 3. Only 3 teams are underperforming more than us. We also create a high proportion of our chances from open play, which I also view as encouraging. At the other end, we're 4th in xA with ...

Re: Squad Bible

Thank goodness for Henry 8th (even if for selfish reasons) and Martin Luther as otherwise we might still be genuflecting all over the place as so many foreign players do for some reason on the pitches of England. The bible, albeit no doubt historically inaccurate, does have some decent allegorical ...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Out of interest, don't PL2 sides get the opportunity to play the equivalent academy sides of European nations. I presume Reading would have to win or finish in the top 3/4 places of their leagues to qualify or is qualification a bit more open than that? Yes there is the PL2 International Cup. Top 1...

Re: Reading's Penalty Shoot Out Record

Hendo I want to say someone like Doncaster in the 2006/07?

IIRC Peter Maté scored the winning pen.

Not quite. Mate scored our third goal in regulation time. Our other, more storied loan centre back, Andre Bikey, scored the winning penalty.

Ipswich have now scored more goals for Reading at the Madejski than Chris Martin, Lewis Grabban, or Billy Sharp.
