Re: Weekend Football

Perhaps one of the more enjoyable things about watching Newcastle is St Maxinin. Sorry if he's been mentioned on here already, and I daresay he has. He is one of those players that seems to me so valuable - he doesn't only have tremendous skill but he is very energetic and hardworking - that I don't...

Re: Is this collectively, and singularly, the worst Reading team and management ever?

I voted no because I am old enough to remember the Reading team under Terry 'the taxi driver' Bullivant. Whatever happened to him? To be fair he did kind of 'discover' Levoy Primus.

Re: Players underachieving because of strengths of Premiership

Seems only a short time ago that Deli Ali was to a lot of people, myself included, potentially one of the best midfielders in Europe.

Players underachieving because of strengths of Premiership

It seems to me that the deluge of quality attacking players currently playing in the Premiership, many of them as is often frequently mentioned are English, means that some phenomenal players will never reach the giddy heights of which they are capable. I feel sure that in days gone by the likes of ...

Re: Who realistically replaces Paunovic…?

I would love to see Gilksey given a shot at the job. As someone who knows the club, who played there for so long, who has been coaching there for so long, who knows the set up, knows the academy he seems to me a plausible contender. I presume Gilksey must have coaching badges of some description. Gi...

Commentators' 'magic of the FA Cup' not understood by foreigners crap

Jeez it makes my blood boil. Some interviewer on ITV with a player and suggesting to him that foreign managers 'don't understand' the aura around the FA Cup. Footballer's very reasonable response: 'No not really. I think the manager understands what the FA Cup means in this country and its history.'...

Which Prem player's transfer will exceed the 100m paid for Grealish

Tielemans or Declan Rice in my view. Quite possibly both. Should happen in the next six months. That's all.

Re: Autumn snuggles

On the subject of the intemperate seasons, let's not forget that the time is almost upon us when some of the little visitors to our gardens will be getting themselves ready for hibernation. Yes, I'm talking about the Miss Tiddywinkles that rid our garden of slugs and snails. Have you considered leav...

Re: Autumn snuggles

These days I usually play a false number nine or an Andrea Pirlo type role. It really depends on what the gaffer thinks is needed at the time.

Autumn snuggles

I don't know about you but there is something about the beautiful colours and bright frosty days that make autumn a really special season for me. I just adore the feeling of autumn rain against my face. I love to cosy up on the sofa. It is simply marvellous to observe the leaves turn orange and red....

On the plus side according to the BBC today's attendance was around 150,000 which makes it the most well attended game of any football match club, international or otherwise in the entire history of the global game.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Birmingham City (a)

[quote="Hendo"]Yes, it was poor last night and yes it would be incredibly frustrating for us to miss out on the play-offs but; a) it isn't over yet, there are still 27 points to play for, which is loads. Yes, it is probably going to be a lot closer than we'd like but that's football, it do...

Older fans on here might or might not agree with me that Estevez could play a similar role to that of the late, great Dean Horrix.

More an idea than a rumour

Johnny Williams. I know he is injury prone but he's a lovely player and comes across so forlornly on the excellent Netflix documentary Sunderland til I Die. I'd like to seem dribble for Reading.

Re: BFTG Millwall Away

Bowen's post match analysis has been mentioned on here before but I was really impressed by how specific the manager was post-Millwall about what went wrong and his understanding of how and why certain things failed. It kind of gives you a bit of faith having someone both articulate and passionate i...

Re: BFTG - Preston (a)

What worries me about the outfit conundrum is the lack of elegance on show. Personally, I would have no problem if the players wore blue and white striped plus fours and a decent pair of brogues. It would show young people the importance of sartorial appearance in respecting oneself and others.

What does one eat at a 'Catanian dinner' whatever that is? I could Google Catanian dinner but I can't be arsed although I could have done so in the time it has taken me to write this.

To the tune of No-one Quite Like Grandma by St Winifred's School Choir including lisp:

There'th no-one quite like Ovie
There'th no-one quite like him
He alwayth trieth hith betht
And scoreth a goal with vim

Ovie we love you
Ovie we do
And though you may be far away
We alwayth think of you
