Re: This season is going to be brilliant

Apart from anything else, the fact that the likes of Robson Kanu, Church and Davies have received very positive reviews from the people on here who have watched games makes it a pretty positive pre-season for me. In games against??? I remember people saying that Simeon Howell would have a big futur...

Re: This season is going to be brilliant

I'm not going to disagree with the sentiment of the original poster apart from his idea that we have had a positive pre-season. As usual we have tonked some very friendly Swedes but apart from that, unless we thrash a full Chelsea first team this afternoon,I'm not sure where you get this "positi...

Re: Could we be involved in a relegation battle?

It's difficult to just wipe away the memory of the second part of last season when we played like a relegation side. Marcus and Doyle going are great losses and Hunt staying would be another downer. The signing of just a Chelsea player who has been out on loan to 4 other clubs doesn't exactly fill m...

Good to see the two Die Hard fans-usually see them at away games.
Didn't the fella used to post on here and both are mates of Sun Tzu?

Re: Rodgers needs two to complete jigsaw - from The Chronic

BTW having a lot of Academy players doesn't mean we have exceptional talent there-I do sincerely hope that we have but please let us not overstate things just yet as none of the big boys have snapped any of them up whereas with people like Ramsey at Cardiff,Pennant at Notts County,Bostock at Palace...

Re: Rodgers needs two to complete jigsaw - from The Chronic

the "brick by brick" mantra is great, but the problem is we've stopped building, and are now dismantling brick by brick. We've not stopped building at all. Think of it as an extention with some shiny new bricks but we have to wait awhile to remove some of the older decrepid bricks which s...

Re: Rodgers needs two to complete jigsaw - from The Chronic

Just one small concern. If the big gamble on youth players doesn't work this season do we think that the £11 million of parachute money plus the money from sales of Doyle and possibly others will be set aside for buying players next summer? I wish I could believe that would be the case but regrettab...

Notts County have Sven.........We have Nicky Hammond !!! So how come some rich Middle Eastern consortium can buy into County and yet JM who wants to sell can't find a buyer? Since when is a League 2 side more attractive than Reading in the Championship? that depends oldest club in the world more hi...

Re: The Unruined Tommy Smith RUMOUR Thread

I'm not massively enamoured of Kebe, but he could be a big player. Personally (assuming Smith can play on the left - a big if) I'd be inclinded to go with a forward line of: Henry................................Smith ...................NHunt With Kebe and Long/Church on the bench. Looking at those ...

savage 4 england Paul McKenna to Forest from Preston for £750k. Apparently Blackstock is on his way too..Forest are spending large sums.

If Blackstock goes there does that make Nathan even more likely to move?
Come on home Nathan you know it makes sense.

Loan signings

Seeing as we seem to be doing a bit of this I wondered what other posters feel. My view is that loan signings of young players is of more benefit to the club letting the player go out on loan. If a player does really well it might help him get over an injury and even if not quite good enough when re...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8149282.stm I never saw him play, but I'd forgot that he'd played for Wimbledon in that FA Cup Final. For those who actually saw him play, did he play like Theirry Henry? I'd at least hope he was better than Henry. Your opinions? Nothing like Henry apart fro...

Re: New Signings ?

Talking to people down here he was a bit of a frail lad when on loan.
Still,it's two years on but the idea (as we were told about Makin and Armstrong) that he could also play centre-back may be wide of the mark.

Pardew for Saints?

Now that the front runners of Coppell and Strachan no longer seem to be on their radar the rumour is that they are going for the cheap option especially as the board have come to their senses and realised that Tony Adams would be a non-starter on many levels. The fans around this way are just desper...

He played very well against us for Saints.
I would like us to have him but only if there is a realistic chance of eventually making him a permanent signing.

IIRC he reportedly had asthma when with us(as opposed to the alleged panic attack that caused him to leave the field during a game) so he might be suffering more than most.
