Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2013/14

(he's a Chelsea fan and actually said our youth teams are better than theirs). Chelsea promote their youth players quicker than we do though. We only promote our exceptional players, and then generally only by a couple of years, but Chelsea's top scorer in the U21s has just turned 16. So whilst our...

Re: Reading 5-a-side team

Feds keeper for sure. Essentially a 5th outfielder. WHS. Feds Dariusz Sidwell Shorey Kitson Four outfield players who could defend and attack. Current squad: Feds Bridge Guthrie Karacan Pogrebnyak Striker isn't ideal, but he'd hold it up better than Le Fondre and is a better goalscorer than Blackman.

Re: Team for Brum (H)

McCarthy
Kelly Morrison Pearce Bridge
Guthrie Baird
McCleary Drenthe HRK
Pog

Subs: Feds, Gorkss, Williams, Obita, McAnuff/Taylor, Blackman(/Sharp), Le Fondre

Harsh on both Obita and Tshibola. To be honest, a little bit of me hopes Drenthe and Williams aren't quite fit so we see more of them.

Re: Disciplnary record

I'm not concerned about the side as a whole, but I am concerned about Guthrie and Pearce, who are fairly crucial individuals for us. Three yellows in three matches for Pearce?

I don't really buy the "slow defenders will get yellows" stuff. How many yellows did Ingimarsson get?

Re: Team for Derby

Tshibola has definitely traveled, doubt we'll be seeing Guthrie today Does anyone know anything about Tshibola. What is his game like? Are we completely oxf*rd if he starts. Our youth teams mostly play 4-3-3 a la Mourinho at Chelsea, Rodgers at Reading, with a staggered midfield three (though our U...

Chalobah can also play several positions, and has done so. I'd have loved him for 3 months, though it would have sent out a bad message to our young players (Chalobah is the same age as Tshibola).

Re: Chris Baird

Was training with the fake hoops looks we did Arry up again says on SKY he is a defender. He is principally a right back, but he has significant amounts of experience in central midfield and elsewhere in the defence. He played against us in central midfield last year. I once told a Southampton fan ...

Re: Bring back one player who could make this team sparkle..

Adkins' dream Reading side, using players from his managerial career only (i.e. I can't be bothered to think about whether Osborne was better than Guthrie or Fozzy better than Long): McCarthy (13/14)- weaker distribution than 11/12 Feds, but a better goalkeeper S. Kelly- the only one of our many rig...

Re: BFTG - Leeds

Surely people should have learned by now not to leave early ? So many of my favourite moments supporting this club have come in added time. You're essentially paying in hope of seeing something memorable, and you're most likely to see something really memorable in the final minutes. So why leave ear...

Is what they said of Jack Mills I swear you have to write off every young player we have for little or no reason  Not sure if srs :| Yes, I'm being serious. If a player has a loan spell that doesn't quite work out completely perfectly, you write them off. You have made posts of that ilk about ...

Throwing yourself to the ground with a little pirouette when you've had your arm held is simulation. I have no idea why anyone would think otherwise. FIFA and IFAB think otherwise, and it is their opinion that the game is supposed to be played by. I've no idea why you would say that. Read my previo...

Yeah we are, but nowhere near as much as under McDermot. Where we watching the same match? This argument about who played longer balls is inane. Reading won the championship not so long ago playing effective football. Southampton (under Adkins) came 2nd. I beg anyone to quote a post of theirs from ...
