Re: Section 60 - Your Rights

No-one would have a problem with targeting a single group of people - but I fail to see how any intelligence can suggest that ALL identifiable football supporters can be a legitimate target for S&S. In fact, it was different to that - it was actually ALL people who were wearing football shirts ...

That is presumably Jimmy Quinn in the top left photo being massively outjumped by Martin Hicks.

Re: Green park station/south Reading station

Any progress? And now for my normal contribution to this topic. Remembered to look out the train window this morning and there is no sign of station-building or approach work on either side of the line. Actually, I take that back. There does look like there has been some clearance on the east side ...

Re: Is there a Third Season Syndrome?

Are derby having "1st Season " syndrome ? As was pointed out by others back in August, first season syndrome is the real problem, with about half of Premier League relegations being by clubs in their first season. Allied to that Derby Couty have play-off winner syndrome, which appears to ...

BBC website http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/7260392.stm and Ceefax:
Downing was booked late on for trying to win a penalty for the visitors.

Presumably also a sacking offence? (For Downing, I mean. The BBC are clearly happy with that level of incompetence.)

Re: NO TO TO GAM£ 39 - WHAT YOU CAN DO!

`We've only got 330,000 attending fans … we have to weigh that in the balance against other stakeholders…' That's presumably an average weekend's attendance. So really you need to double it for the other 10 teams, and take off something rather less than 10% for away fans, which makes it over 600,00...

Re: NO TO TO GAM£ 39 - WHAT YOU CAN DO!

Looks like it's all over bar the recriminations (which I hope will be long-lasting and hard-hitting). Don't you believe it for a minute. Many people think that the initial, highly convenient "leak" was one where the PL were happy to announce something ludicrous, so that they can later sca...

Operacion Puerto

A Spanish judge has today re-opened the Operacion Puerto doping investigation. This related to blood doping and administering of EPO up to May 2006 by a Doctor Eufemiano Fuentes in Spain. To date, only cyclists have been named as being involved, and only one of those has received a suspension (altho...

Re: Memorial Wall

When last at Leicester, and obviously whilst thinking mostly of other things, I noticed that they had a small enclosed memorial garden for both fans and former players. I thought this was a very good idea and planned to suggest it at some stage but never got round to it. I think Stoke have something...

Since joining this on Friday night and adding my name to the petition I have only received replies from Birmingham and Manchester United. I also had West Ham and the Prem. I received the same four as Platypuss. When I first posted about it I just assumed the others were on the way. But anyway, the ...

Having signed it, I've started getting e-mails from clubs, all of which are (not unreasonably) generic replies.

Winners of the e-mail race were Birmingham. Everyone else getting the same?

Re: Kitson for England?

There can't be many players out there that started at a non-league club and went on to win England Caps, can there? Ian Wright and Stuart Pearce are two that immediately spring to mind. Les Ferdinand as well I think. Cyrille Regis ? There have been quite a few in the not-too-distant past. Apart fro...

Re: Kitson for England

Woodcote Royal Shorey was lucky to get selected for Reading in the first 3 months of the season (would have prefered DLC at the time) when his head was still at Upton Park.

You'd think that a medical where the player had forgotten to bring his body would be over pretty quickly, wouldn't you?

readingbedding There's only been 3 class strikers for England since 1986.

Dixon, Webb and Upson.

(ahem)... Shorey?

Never got past the halfway line so I thought it would be stretching a point to call him a striker.
