Re: BFTG - Huddersfield (A)

Mentioned it on another thread but are we missing O'Shea? I'm surprised it's not been brought up. He was the only coach retained when Pauno was appointed so the club clearly thought highly of him. We've gone from generally solid defensively over the 2 years he was a full-time coach to horrendous thi...

Re: Is it the right time to sack the manager ?

If I had to pin point a moment, it would be one of these. On the playing side Not meeting Sidwell's contract expectations in 2006. Kitson's injury v Middlesbrough. Shorey getting an England call up On the management side Not having the expertise / ruthlessness to sign good enough players post 2006/...

Noticed that Craig Tanner got an assist for Ebbsfleet on Sat. Didn't realise he was playing for them now.

Re: Pauno out

Is there no other way to discipline a manager other than to sack them? Could Dai not put a rocket up him or give him targets to reach in a given timescale otherwise he will be fined, with sacking as a last resort? If Pauno does get the push is there anyone we can promote from within? O'Shea was a p...

Re: Sign Esteves and Semedo?

Tough one but yes to Esteves because of his age. He'll learn from the experience and with Aluko/Baldock going and possibly Olise too could see him getting more opportunities in right midfield than he had this season.

Probably no to Semedo. Not expecting either to be here though.

Re: Pauno out

Don't want him to go, apart from anything else he hasn't had the chance to manage us in a "normal" season yet, but I've had a feeling for the last couple of months that if we didn't make the Top 6 the owners would sack him.

Re: Bowen v. Paunović

We didn't go higher than 18th until the middle of December, and after we beat Fulham on New Year's Day we subsequently won just one of our next ten. With 11 games to go we were five points outside of the relegation zone. Let's not rewrite history. Last season was not 'comfortable' by any means. Pri...

Re: 90s Man U vs 20's Royals.

The thing to keep in mind is that all the players are different ages. Off the top of my head, Rino is a year older than Richards (and Southwood), who is a year older than McIntyre, who is a year older than Holmes, who is two years older than Olise. If the theory is that we should be producing one p...

Another quiz on ex-players https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/did-reading-fc-sign-each-of-these-14-players-for-more-or-less-than-1-million/ 12/14 11/14 for me. Quite tricky and most of my answers were guesses. Only 9/14 for me, thought I was going to get lucky and get similar. Most of mine were gues...

Re: Brentford game postponed

Disappointing but as I said last week now that the EFL are doing twice weekly tests for the rest of the season I feared something like this might happen. But as has been suggested we may have a largely fully fit squad for the rearranged game, though may be a bit rusty for the Coventry game next week.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Luton Town (a)

one thing noticed from the Pauno presser - think all EFL clubs have had their players tested today. If i'm not wrong, previously it was just based on players and staff reporting symptoms and testing from there. Fair chance they'll uncover quite a few more cases today/tmrw which might affect teams A...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Luton Town (a)

Ideally i'd start with anyone who was on the bench on Saturday plus any injured players returning, but reading JLow's article it doesn't appear as though Gibson or Yiadom will be fit for Saturday. Normally i'd want a stronger lineup, but the league is the priority and we've suffered enough injuries ...

Re: Most important player ever?

Yeah Forster’s a great shout. How that play off semi final first leg changed when he went off injured. We were in total control before he went off. It goes without saying that without him for the second leg we were just not the same team. I watched highlights of both legs last season and we were ac...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005%E2%80%9306_Reading_F.C._season All the appearance info is near the bottom. Cheers fam. So Sidwell only actually played 30 games. Don't remember that! Re: FA cup 3rd round draw

I am predicting we will get Mansfield at home. In one way, that's the kind of draw i'd be hoping for, against a lower league or non-league team, but in another it would be annoying as a mate is a Mansfield fan and we haven't played them in the time I've known him so in normal times i'd have been up...

Sad news, had never ever considered getting food outside the stadium before they turned up but was planning on trying it next time I was at a game. Thought they were going to be here long term, and it seems they did too as they had more plans in mind. Part of me wonders whether the club might change...

Re: Your first game watching Reading FC

Technically my first game was the Tranmere playoff away leg in 1995 as remember seeing a bit of the first half on the TV when it was 1-1.
The first game I watched from start to finish was the Wembley playoff final against Bolton.
First game I went to was against Burnley in August 2002, a 3-0 win.
