Re: Transfers that made you cry

Neil Webb ironically also to Pompey Reasons (which may not be valid, I'm sure others will correct me !) - he'd not played that much for us, was obviously going to be a top player and it was disappointing we weren;t going to see him develop first hand - local lad, big family connection to the club -...

Re: Dean Whitehead

Whitehead is from Abingdon, which has in the past caused people to think he might want to return "home" to this area. I'm not sure that he has ever expressed that desire and seems to have preferred to remain at Sunderland in recent years.

Re: Rumour: new keeper

I would be pleased if this one happened. Gerken is a good keeper and will obviously move onwards and upwards from Colchester. Next season Federici to be loaned out somewhere for 1st team experience (after the olympics of course) and Gerken to cover / learn from / challenge Hahnemann. Following seaso...

Re: Transfer Policy and Squad Size - what do you read into it?

If we get rid of all of Robson Kanu, Pearce, Henry and Karacan, I will cry. Do you seriously want our Academy prospects to leave? And how is dumping four youth players going to have much effect on our wage bill, when they probably don't earn Stephen Hunt's salary between them? i don't want them to ...

Re: Worst player you've seen at Reading

Obviously none of you ever saw Malcolm Swain. Good call that. Can't think of many worse than him. I felt sorry for him because the Reading management had clearly told him he could make a footballer and nothing was further from the truth. I understand he took up rugby after leaving Reading, although...

Re: Worst player you've seen at Reading

Eamon Dunphy seemed to me, as a mere nipper, to be absolutely dire. Always found it somewhat amusing that he's now such an aggressive pundit, when he was, in the games I saw, utterly useless. Sorry mate. Got to put you straight on this one. You were only a nipper at the time but Dunphy was superb f...

Re: RUMOUR - Bristol City to Bid £2m for Lita

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/gossip_and_transfers/default.stm According to BBC site City will bid for Lita if they get promoted. Whilst £2m fee seems reasonable they are entitled to 20% of any fee under sell on clause when he came to us. Are people sure there is a sell on clause with Li...

Re: RUMOUR - Doyle to Aston Villa £4 million

Smoking Kills Dancing Doe If Doyle wants to go, he'll go.

The last thing Coppell needs is to start this season with players who don't want to be here.

Not like the last season then

Re: RUMOUR - Hunt to Sunderland (again)

10 Mill for Doyle & Hunt apparentlly according to the sunderland echo  Done. I would definitely accept £5M for Hunt but think that Doyle is worth far more than that. I really hope Doyle stays. as much as i like doyle, and think hes probably worth a bit more than 5 mil, it wouldnt be to h...

Hahnemann Rosenior Bikey Ingimarsson Shorey Murty Little Marek Harper Convey Kitson Subs: Federici Cisse Fae Henry Doyle Obviously a gamble to try Murts in a holding role in front of the back four as he hasn't done that before. He could lead the team from there, would not try to get forward too much...

POMPEY POMPEY POMPEY Various dates over the last 35 years Virtually every time I have been there, we have been beaten, got soaked, windswept, moaned about the away end and been totally pizzed off with the whole thing. I don't know why I bother going, in fact this years 7-4 was the first Pompey matc...

Re: Worst three matches watched

Reading 1 - 5 Bury, late 60s or early 70s, sorry can't be more precise. George Jones scored 4 goals against us. Bury were poor and Jones only ever scored against us but they were something of a bogey team to us. The only game I have left well before the end, which actually wasn't easy to do as the g...

Re: korean youngsters

Rather than spend more time debating with these ridiculous PC-hysterics, I would like to discuss the question posed earlier: What beats me is... Why don't we invest more in English young players. Why don't we? We do and have done for oxford years you jumped up moron No. We invest what we invest. Th...

Re: korean youngsters

I take great exception to your post, Ideal. My partner, who is pregnant with my child, is a French-speaking African (who, incidentally, has seen probably more Reading games than you) and for you to classify her as a waster is about as insulting and racist as you can get. If you're going to carry on...

Re: I'm not plastic or am I - Plastic Points ..............

550. Live in exile now so most of my points were clocked up in the days when we really were shit. Originally from Wantage and not easy supporting Reading then when everyone else followed Swindon or Oxford and we were crap. Happier days now despite our league position.

Lita to score a hat trick in front of the watching Capello. We then turn down a £7 million bid for him from Sunderland as Coppell says "Leroy is very happy here". Reading fans start Lita for England chant.
