Re: who do you want as the new manager

With his Chelsea connections, perhaps Gourlay could get Mourinho in after he's sacked from Man U.

Re: Stam Gone

Stam was /is a very strong character and made everybody play how he wanted. The Ulderink was probably in the same boat. You've got to assume he's got a 'football brain' and could see what was going wrong. You've got to hope that with Stam gone, he will now change things.

Can't see it though.

Re: BFTG - Leeds

What was the Jimmy Savile song the Leeds fans were singing? It sounded like 'Jimmy Savile, he's one of our own'.

Now the Leeds fans are a class bunch, so it surely couldn't have been that.....

Re: The very latest in STAM OUT threads...with poll

Shelf Wed sacked Carlos and are one point and one place above us in the League.
Swansea (the club he went to), on the other hand have got themselves out of the Prem relegation zone and are looking good.

Be very careful what you wish for.

Re: Back from the shambles - Brum

I listened to the game on the radio. The only thing more depressing would have been to be there!! Tim and Mick said something interesting, in that they saw the relationship between Stam and Gourlay as being a partnership, rather than as Chief Exec and manager. This would explain Gourlay's comments a...

Re: BFTG - Cardiff

He sent on a player with the instruction for him to flatten Steve Hunt - class!! He got Carl Asaba to wind up John Mackie (not the brightest spark in the grate). Mackie made a stupid racist remark to Asaba, something that Asaba didn't want to pursue, but Colin did. I didn't think Cardiff were that g...

Re: Board of Directors - Look away now ...

Football finances are in a ridiculous state. If Stam had been manager when Coppell was, it is absolutely certain that the figure he spent on players would be so much less. You can't even use the usual inflation figures to compare spending. Comparisons of spending by one manager against another are t...

Re: Jaap's Radio Comments

I like Stam and I like the style of play we're trying to play. We built up last season from slow and boring(ish) to really good. My problem with today was the same as my biggest problem with the play last season - players seem more intent on holding their position, rather than move to a better one. ...

Re: Shocking and disgusting behaviour

If I had a cigarette on a train, I would be treated like the criminal that I am and fined, at the very least. But setting off a smoke bomb is just a bit of fun!!

Re: Stop explicit language in the ground...

A friend of mine took his very young daughter to a match at Elm Park. She asked him: "Dad, what's a wakner?"

Hi reply was priceless "That referee, darling!!"

Re: Still not received Season Ticket

If you're having delivery issues, maybe you can arrange to collect them pre-game? That's what I'll have to do, I guess. Except that I drive in from Essex, pick the son up on the way, park in Green Park so the last thing I want to do is queue up at the ticket office with no guarantee that I'll actua...

Re: Still not received Season Ticket

My son ordered our Sts in April to get the bigger discount. He paid for them using either a Bank Card or Credit Card. He had changed his address, and I was told that they had (probably) been sent to his old address, even though they must have had his new address to allow the card payment!! We hadn't...

Re: BFTG - Fulham

I don't get the idea that Fulham are a very good side. In the first minute their bloke got sent off for grabbing Barrow's foot and they then spent the rest of the game trying to get one of ours sent off. I don't think there was a minute in the game where one of their players wasn't down on the groun...

Fair enough. I wasn't patted down though.

80,000 were at Wembley for the PO final. Security was very thorough, but it was managed with the minimum of disruption.

Re: Heightened Security Measures

The stupidest thing about the searches was that those without bags weren't searched, but all bags were. If I was entering the LW to cause trouble with, say, a knife or club, I'm pretty sure I would carry it in a pocket, rather than a handbag. Another thing - at HT I sneak out for a smoke. I did the ...

Re: Transfer fees out of control

I'm not concerned about not spending tonnes. We've consistently proved that you don't need to spend a lot (at least in transfer fees) to be successful. It's about recruiting the right sort of player and it's about the team. Even with the undoubted quality that Wolves have signed I'd be very surpris...

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

I for one am shaking with anger about the complete lack of news, and the utter contempt with which the club treats its fans. We are literally last every season. This year I think its only Wednesday and us who haven't released at least one kit in the entire football league. No ambition This is obvio...

Re: RUMOUR: Gunter to Boro

Success and Failure are very much relative terms. The squad that finished very near the bottom of the league for the two previous seasons managed to get to the Play-off final, and only lost on penalties. That, to my mind, is the sign of a successful club. Whether you like the play-offs or not, they ...
