Re: RUMOUR - Stoppila Sunzu

Agreed on that front Estaban, my issue with your original point was that signing these players means we have less room in our 25 to make room for the experienced players McDermott has rightly identified as what we need to beat the drop. Although I agree we could then move on fringe players, or just...

Re: RUMOUR - Stoppila Sunzu

There is a lot of time to go yes, but I think it's very unlikely that these players won't be included in the 25 as they'd be a waste of valuable time, energy and money right now if they weren't due to play a part. There may well be movements out of the squad as well you're right. My point is that s...

Re: RUMOUR - Stoppila Sunzu

The issue that then leaves us is who are we getting rid of from the Premier League 25? The Aussie might not be one to bring straight in but Sunzu and Carrico are surely players we are buying for the short and well as medium term aren't they? If we bombed out Gunnarsson, Church and the injured McCar...

Re: RUMOUR - Stoppila Sunzu

A lot of people seem to think, or at least that's the way I'm reading it, that Carrico, Sunzu and Rogic are the only signings we're going to make in this window. It's 4th January and our next league game is a week away, there's still plenty of time to bring in some players with PL experience before ...

Re: January Window

Carrico, Sunzu and Rogic. Happy with those, and with another 1 or 2 additions it could have the makings of a very good squad. Not enough to stay up this year but definitely in a position to come back up and develop into an established Prem side in a few years. +1 The club are looking at the bigger ...

Re: Who's getting paid what?

Somebody somewhere needs to find a new business model for football. Those figures are frightening.

Re: Songs for Carrico

Use the tune form the Ki-Ora ads in the 80's and replace Ki-Ora with Carrico. Throw something in about 'He'll feed the Pog' instead of 'I'll be your Dog' and hey presto!

I don't often start chants at games...

Re: Leigertwood - Out of his depth

Reading fans really are so very, very clueless. At Tottenham there were repeated grumblings about Leigertwood, despite the fact that he massively outperformed the blue-eyed boy Karacan on the day. Karacan's miles covered to touches of the ball ratio must be huge, this was particularly in evident at...

Re: Alex Pearce

The club's wage bill in 2006/07 was £28.1M, meaning that if you split that evenly (which obviously it wasn't but still...) amongst a squad of 25 you'd get £1.12m a player per year. That's 20k a week give or take. Obviously the individual wages are going to be all over the place, no way Cox was earn...

Re: Alex Pearce

I've been led to believe he's after Guthrie type money, not Pog money and not even Federici money. Club completely dragged their heels with this one. Pearce & his new agent obviously play a part and the club is in it's total right to offer what it believes is fair, but the club, especially Nick...

Re: Alex Pearce

Or his Agent does. Pearce is probably worth 20k a week to us at the moment, we are bottom of the premier league club right now, and he hasn't proven himself better than that yet We can't afford to pay players based on potential. All he has is a championship winners medal and a single cap for Irelan...

Re: Alex Pearce

Because the offer made isn't big enough to meet what Pearce (or his agent) think he's worth. Whether it's Pearce or RFC that's being unreasonable is something we just don't know. very true. as i said in a previous post we will probably never know what is happening and who was being unreasonable. ho...

Re: January Window

Isn't Arshavin reportedly on £100k a week? The loan could cost as much as £2.5m, just in wages. Big risk, considering he hasn't played well for Arsenal consistently for some time. Having said that, he's probably the best we could realistically get, so we may as well go for it. If we could bring in ...

Re: No longer a Rumour - Daniel Carriço

Well I for one am baffled. One the hand McD spouts on about the desire to bring in 2 or 3 players of proven premier league experience, yet on the other, he buys a CD/CDM player from Portugal who has played twice this season in the Portuguese League, and is about to sign a 20 year old Aussie who onl...

Re: Speculation - Tom Rogic

£400k is chicken feed in terms of our current status, so it represents a calculated gamble. Makes sense when you consider the league we are likely to be playing in next season and still gives us room to bring in a couple of experienced players at PL level, on loan or otherwise, to try and save us. H...

Re: No longer a Rumour - Daniel Carriço

BM confirmed today he has been brought in as a CDM. thank god. hopefully he will drop ledge asap. That doesn't necessarily mean that he'll drop Leigertwood. I don't think that Carrico will be ready to play for us until the end of the month anyway, given the limited number of games he's played recen...
