Re: Rumour: Lucas Joao

Looks like we are paying 800k now with the remaining amounts being paid over the next few years.

So we have essentially re-invested the Bodvarsson money or some of the Stacey sell-on to get him in - as well as writing off the Hector sell-on to make the move happen.

Pretty damn good deal if true.

Re: Next Season's Squad.

No way Boye has been signed for the bench. I think we'll stick him in behind the striker instead of swift. He's a tricky winger. Not a no.10. We essentially have 3 first choice wingers, with Boye, Barrow and Meite, all of whom could fill in up front if something happens to Joao. They will all get p...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

Yes. Would mean a big squad again though. The bench should certainly be decent! Rafael Yiadom, Miazga, Moore, Blackett Rinomhota, Pele Meite, Swift, Barrow Joao Walker, Morrison, McIntyre, Adam, Boye, Novakovich, Olise/Loader/Baldock Disagree it would be big - we would have 2 players per outfield p...

Re: Rumour: Lucas Joao

Aluko 2.0. Transfer fee is ludicrous if true. It's like groundhog day being a supporter sometimes. 6ft 3.5" striker with a decent goals per minute ratio who can hold up play - we are screaming for a player like him. He is also only 25 so still room to improve - where as Aluko was what 29?, com...

Re: Are we screwed?

Maybe we've decided the money spent beyond FFP will gain us more points than we'd lose from a points deduction. More likely we're closing in on shifting more cost and anticipating money for Hector as already said. I doubt that Howe would go down that route so yes would expect they are comfortable t...

Re: The generic transfer thread

Who exactly could they buy that's prem proven, is commanding in the air, is one of the best CB's in the league (has better numbers than VVD*), is at the prime age (i.e. not potential, or near retirement) and wants to come to United a team that's not in the CL *obvs is obvs As a quick example, they ...

Re: Rumour: Lucas Joao

Brilliant. A ~1 in 4 striker is exactly what we need. Gomes is starting to piss me off signing all his mediocre Portuguese mates. 1 in 4 if you just look at the total games and not playing time (you can't score on the bench). When he is on the pitch, he hits the back of the net every 160 min...

Re: Rumour: Lucas Joao

Ask yourself why Sheffield Wednesday would be letting him go to a Championship rival, they don't rate him. Our supporters on Twitter seem to be getting very carried away with this deal, I am extremely pessimistic. That being said I hope he's a huge success here. Most I have read accept they have to...

Re: Rumour - Rafael Cabral

The third goal would be saved by most decent goalkeepers, from the position the striker found himself the ball was always going in that corner. The kid has never started a competitive game before coming here and it shows. I've already said I would expect him to be disappointed with the 3rd goal but...

Re: The generic transfer thread

Clarify please @Stranded. The fee - any transfer fee is fairly meaningless. Maguire is not worth 80m to Leicester but Utd have decided he is the only CB that will meet their needs. As Leicester do not need to (or especially) want to sell - it is a figure that Utd can comfortable afford and one that...

Re: Pele

Defensive midfielder, which we desperately need, who did very well in Portugal at Rio Ave. Would imagine some of the coaching staff know him well as a result.

Not quite worked out at Monaco after at €8m move and was on loan at Forest back end of last season.

Could be just what we need.

Re: CONFIMRED - Lucas Boye

Cool, so if we want to strengthen it's essentially 2 out of CF, Ejaria and DM Of course we can just pay the bargain price of £3m for Ejaria if FFP allows it. It doesn't ... end of. Well, it would depend on the structure of the deal and how long a contract we give him. Signing a player for "3m&...

Re: Rumour - Rafael Cabral

If it had been Martinez I'd know he just had an off day. I thought the first was the worst personally. And I'm still not convinced he could do nothing about the two vs Chelsea. No outright errors, but unconvincing and expect better. But because you haven't seen much of Virginia, you have decided th...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

The FL have already called off Burys’ second league game (v Accy) Is this what football has become? Thanx $ky, the FA, EFL nd your £s Mismanagement of a good idea? I'm not sure you can blame many of those for Bury's plight - this mainly falls down to a guy deciding to takeover the club and buying i...

Re: Rumour - Rafael Cabral

I know that's your honest opinion. But it's also my honest opinion that a first choice championship keeper should be doing better on some if not all of the goals. From Saturday? Fair enough if that's how you see it but a well hit finish on a close 1 on 1 - a free header from 8 to 10 yards out are n...

Re: Rumour - Rafael Cabral

He also let a weird goal in against Chelsea - the Kennedy one. In isolation the goals might not be worth discussing, but when 3 of the 5 goals give you niggling doubts, it becomes a worry. And yes, let's face facts, he's 19 and never played senior football. None of us are writing off his career, bu...

Re: The generic transfer thread

If we want to see evidence that the game's gone (as the talksport cliche machine would say) then we only need to look at the fee Villa paid for Mings (NB I know this is probably old news, I don't really follow other team's transfers) £26.5 million!!!!! I very nearly included that as an example of w...
