Re: 20 Years Ago Today (16/1/99).........

Left at 4-0. Clearly remember vowing never to return to the Madejski. I hated the whole thing. Six months earlier my match day routine involved Spread Eagle, stroll round to the Southbank, find the usual spot under the clock and enjoy 90 mins of ineptitude. Here we still had the ineptitude, but the...

Re: 20 Years Ago Today (16/1/99).........

I remember Elroy Kromheer putting in 45 minutes of such stunning ineptitude the likes of which nothing we've seen in the last 18 months comes even close to replicating. I stuck it out til the bitter end and even by the mediocre standard of a season season where we kept throwing away points against s...

Re: Man CitHEHEHE

City bought Steve Daley for £1.4m. I'm not questioning the worth of United's signings, just that around the the time United bought Wilkins, Liverpool spent a similar combined sum on Dalglish, Souness and Hansen. When United spent £2.5m on Stapleton and Robson, Liverpool spent £1.6m on Johnston, Lawr...

Re: Tiago llori

I expect that Ilori is very much central to Gomes plans. If he is happy enough to stay he will, if he really wants to go to SL, then he probably will go there. I think that's the key. At this stage of his career, he'll want regular starts, not the occasional 20 minutes off the bench. I think he'll ...

Re: Man CitHEHEHE

United were spending big back in the late 70's and early 80's, comparatively more than Liverpool; Wilkins for £875,000 in 79, Birtles for £1.25m in 80, Robson for £1.5m and Stapleton for £900,000 in 81, for example. And then you look at the spending of clubs like Forest, Wolves and Man City. Liverpo...

Re: Tiago llori

So basically, he'll only be 4th choice so Sporting don't want to pay more than €2.2m and want to pay in installments, we want €3m up front, Gomes doesn't want to sell and Ilori isn't entirely sold on the move either.

I can see this happening for about €1.5m in the summer if we go down.

Re: Worst Reading XI

All true but that team was arguably the strongest side available and 6 or 7 players are a disgrace to the shirt. The Watford game was a scratch side thrown together because we had a Cup replay 2 days later and we rested the whole first team.

Re: Worst Reading XI

That's a starting 11 that contained an English international, an Irish international, a Welsh international and 2 Nigerian internationals. That certainly doesn't mean they're any good though! Not at all. Only 3 of them were current internationals, only 2 of them earned more than 4 caps and only 1 o...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

I've just rewatched the highlights because of this argument and I can't say I think there's much the ref got bang on. Fox - could easily have seen a straight red Richards - slightly more control but a worse challenge, couldn't complain at red Murphy - a straight red, looks like intent and worse tha...

Re: CONFIMRED José Gomes

It's a positive start though isn't it and I agree with those saying that he seems to have instilled a more positive vibe. He's clearly under no illusions about the task at hand but he doesn't so much as say the right things as says things in the right way. 4 points in 4 games is an improvement 2 cle...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Nottingham Forest (h) sponsored by Steve Stone

Think it’s been wrongly assumed that Ejaria’s loan spell at Rangers was a poor one - I don’t think it was. He just didn’t like it, he played a lot of games and some at a decent level Glad he’s done well. And delighted and relieved we should be getting the 3 points When there are doubts raised about...

Ejaria superb. Standing ovation when subbed

A strong start and pleased to hear it. I have my doubts but a hope he proves me wrong.

Who said anything about bullying the players, where only talking hogtied and pistol whipped which frankly is too good for some of them.

Re: Rumour - Ruben Semedo

+1 from me for signing him though, was it Bob Hazell we had on loan once who 30 mins into his debut committed a horrible tackle, didn’t wait for the ref to show the card but went straight down the tunnel, grabbed his clothes and left never to be seen at the club again ? I do remember him getting se...

Re: Rumour - Ruben Semedo

Turns out he was innocent: Semedo’s agent, Catio Balde, however told Portuguese television network TSF on Wednesday that his client had been tricked. “Ruben was a victim of fraud, a large-scale swindle, probably of a financial nature. Against this situation he didn’t react in the best possible way,...

Re: Rumour - Ruben Semedo

In January 2018, it was announced that Semedo would be subjected to trial for an altercation in a bar in Valencia the previous November where he allegedly brandished a pistol and produced threats, while the player was nursing an injury. He was arrested again for a separate incident on 20 February, t...
