Re: The Non - League thread

Sat 24th April ....vaguely considered a bit of 'lurking' around a Rec. this PM for a spot of sub-STEP06 NL 8) : ..... the weather was fine and there's no decent 15:00 game on the box - & plenty of local choice -TVL, NBerks, Oxon Senior, Wilts & both Surrey Leagues, as well as some clubs at ...

Re: Old Reading Footage on VHS/film/Youtube

I uploaded clips from 91/92 and 92/93 here, with a playlist rather than 1 video for a season. Bit beyond me that!

Also put together playlists from seasons prior to that for clips already uploaded by other users.

Re: Record Watch 2020/21

Anyone else already worried for 2021-22?

Hoping Newcastle stay up. A big club coming down is where the real threat lies !

Re: Worst ever Reading FC miss

Ferdinand miss here, 27 mins in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tL3NGNYmZ4 Seeing that, the ball never seems to properly land at Ferdinand's feet but he was only a few yards out of an open goal. Whereas Joao very much had the ball under control and the whole goal to aim at. Yep, i agree. I ...

Re: Record Watch 2020/21

Looking back since 2006, i dont think anyone has come close have they? The closest i can think of was Leicester in 2014, when they got 102. Just looked it up, their max points fell below 106 6 games before the end of the season, a game before we played them. Wolves got 103 in the same year but fell ...

Re: The Non - League thread

Lots of leagues proposing Spring Cup competitions for April and May, assuming fans are allowed back in. Plenty of interest from clubs by all accounts. Im guessing County Cups might be back on the agenda as well?

Looking forward to Foc's Friday updates!

Re: The Non - League thread

Imagine it’ll the same for many others too....seems to make sense under the circumstances. As a side dish, a decent Maidenhead United centre-spread in The Non League Paper today featuring 150 years of York Road. Didnt realise that, hope they have a copy left at my local. Shut a shame the celebratio...

Re: The Non - League thread

National League North & South supposedly scheduled to resume on 6th Feb. Must be a possibility that some will refuse and Furlough their contracted players if they simply cant afford to go into debt

Re: The Non - League thread

Frome doing themselves absolutely no favours at at all going down the 'open letter' route. Slagging the FA off in public before they get a chance to respond, in the hope of special favour? That's hardly going to gain an sympathy from them, is it? The same rules are there for everyone and plenty of o...

Re: The Non - League thread

Going to Ascot v Camberley tomorrow. Looks like Sandhurst Town at Larges Lane the only other game you can go to at Step 6 or above in Berkshire. No doubt FoC will have the full gen!

Re: The Non - League thread

Trying to work out where we are actually allowed to go on Saturday. Ascot are at Home for example, is that "In your Area" if you are Wokingham? Ive no idea where the boundaries are.

Using the T&T App might not be a great idea if any doubts.

Re: The best game you've ever seen?

Maybe the real answer to this is Portsmouth 7 Reading 4?

There was also the 6-4 win at Exeter and the 6-4 loss at Spurs.

The Spurs game was nuts and might well have been the best of the lot. The wrong result, but possibly the best match we have ever been involved in.

Re: The Non - League thread

Went to Wokingham 4-0 Woodley United Same bloke (No.10 – didn’t have a team sheet) scored all 4 and didn’t take the pen (that was missed) shortly after the 4th. He’ll be regretting that, probably never get the chance to score 5 again. Hosts severely depleted by all accounts but won at a canter. Gate...

Re: The best game you've ever seen?

I think all of my top 3 didn't involve Reading: 1. Milan 3-4 Inter October 2006 2. England 2-2 Argentina World Cup 1998 3. Germany 1-5 England 2001 The top 2 I travelled to without tickets and went via touts outside the ground. Something you really cant do now and just adds a bit more to the overall...

Re: The Non - League thread

Loads of clubs making a huge fuss. 2 things to note 1. The next lot of restrictions last 2 weeks. A lot of clubs dont have a fixture in week 1 anyway. 2. For Tier 2, Im sure that getting 2-3 times your usual gate will more than cover lost beer sales. Just sell soft drinks and food outside. No doubt ...

Re: Fragments of Elm Park

Oh what I'd give for just one more afternoon on the Southbank :( I know. Especially on a wet Saturday afternoon, muddy, greasy top, rain hissing down on to the pitch, drips coming through the roof, crazy crazy people standing on the Tilehurst End regardless, away fans suffering the chant of ' you'r...
