Re: New Manager

I agree but why sack Clement two days before the game? Surely he should have been given the Sheffield game rather than someone with absolutely no experience of managing senior team football. I'd have thought given the timing, they had someone to bring in almost instantly to take the Sheffield game ...

Re: BFTG Sheffield

The fitness they lack is in their heads. They just don’t think or do things quickly enough. Massively relates to confidence, that. A nervous player will, depending on their own inclination, either dither or panic, while in possession. Neither is conducive to good attacking football. Similarly a ner...

Re: The Local Journo Thread

Bit of an interesting standoff going on between our local journo's and even ex ones. Watts putting knife in with his scoop, Smith good as ruling that out and convinced we have certain targets (but now deleting and re-editing his tweets as not to lose face and JLow is laying low. None of them have a...

Re: New Manager

They showed a clear shot on the telly of Howe, with Joorabchian (or someone who looked a lot like him) sat next to him, looking bored, playing with his phone. Was at the game so didn't see this. Did anyone snap a picture from their TV of this, didn't see one on Twitter? https://pbs.twimg.com/media/...

Re: New Manager

There's no way any of our players are going that kind of money in the near future, so I wouldn't just be surprised, I'd be absolutely amazed!!! Why would anyone pay £5m for Swift or £4m for Ilori or Barrow? It's well and good talking up these fees and suggest League One clubs would be interested in...

Re: The Local Journo Thread

Bloody hell, DD. Wish I hadn't said anything now. He is the wettest member on this board, he actually was behind a social media campaign to ban swearing at football matches. Tells you everything and you should be backing me not making unfunny DD references. Not true, as I've pointed out before, but...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Big match tomorrow for the U23`s with a lunchtime KO 1pm away to West Brom at their training ground. 3 points would be useful to keep them at the top of the Premier league 2 2nd division table. table https://www.flashscores.co.uk/football/england/premier-league-2/standings/ Jonathan Bond in goal fo...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Out of curiosity, went into Wikipedia to have a look at Scott Marshall's career, as I knew next to nothing about him. Came across this little gem, which maybe puts some of our own defenders into context. In August 1998, Dave Jones signed him for Southampton on a free transfer. Saints thought they ha...

Re: The Local Journo Thread

Ease up OMA  That might be going a little too far. Well it's OMA, so excessive bile is the norm. Podcasts (which btw, usually aren't done by the TTE editor) aren't always as good as they were with Wimb, that's true. But Wimb was exceptionally good - in comparison to other fan-led podcasts and ...

Re: Nigel Howe appointed new CEO

Obviously Howe was brought in to do a clean sweep - Steven Falk is now gone as well.

In fact the only senior figures brought in that I can think of that are still here are Scott Marshall and Ged Roddy - as the Academy seems to be doing well, would be a bit of a shock if they get culled also.

I’m not feeling the Luís Castro love in. Yes, he’s Portuguese. What contacts does he have over here? I just see signings of lesser known overseas players with him and Nani at the helm. We haven’t got the money to do a Wolves  I’d be so happy if Martin O’Neill got the job. I really think he wo...

Re: Clement sacked!

Jagermesiter1871 One interesting point is there seems very little postings from players on social media, unlike when Stam went. Was Clement not popular with the squad?

I noticed that also. Only one I've seen to come out with anything was Yakou Meite, who obviously only got his chance under Clement.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

On Holmes, yes he's currently injured but his selection against Bolton was very much down to him being Stam's flavour-of-the-week. He kept changing who his favourite young centre back was and it just so happened that the week he decided to drop Ilori, it was Holmes. A few weeks earlier he'd wanted ...

Training Ground Guru have done an analysis of Academies in terms of how many players they have produced, and have ranked us 14th. which is pretty decent I think.

Have a look

Re: The poll for a new a manager

The Brentford set up is the thing that has gotten the results...the 'manager' is much more a coach. Warbutton hasn't done much at Forest and we'll see how Dean Smith fares. They ditched the academy in order to concentrate on recruiting young players released by academies in the Premier League and t...
