Re: FAO Sir Steve

this is why pardew left though, he applied the pressure and got nothing, and for what its worth he would not have taken us as far as sir steve has! We'll never know of course, but I suspect you're right. I do believe you Coppell was in a strong position to go banging on the door though, but we'll a...

Re: FAO Sir Steve

That said, we will never reconcile the "Madjeski get your cheque book out" question (i.e. would it make a difference) unless we have a manager prepared to bang his door down and apply some pressure - and SSC is never going to do that. This is very true. If, as some people are convinced, M...

Re: Derby Match Thread

So, did Kitson score the goal that relegated us? If we'd stayed at 1-0 then perhaps Fulham wouldn't have pulled their finger out and pushed for a winner at Pompey! What?          That wasn't 100% serious Gordon! But it did seem ...

Re: SPECULATION - Players Leaving

Wycombe Royal
Hoop Blah On top of your list Wycombe I think we'll see Oster, De La Cruz, Stack, Fae and a few of the kids leaving.

I said KEY players

I know...I was just expanding on the debate

(wasn't Oster key this season though?)

Re: The Championship - I am looking forward to seeing...

cmonurz Absolutely f*ck all. I want Premier League back.

Edit: I thought of one. Henry, Pearce and Karacan in an exciting and vibrant young Reading team.

Absolutely. This is the silver lining for me.

Re: RUMOUR - Gary O'Neil to Reading?

Coppell said at the forum O'Neil 'we looked at him and we ummed and ahhd over signing him, we thought Little would be back within 2 months, but it was a year in the end. In hindsight I maybe should have done something, but i felt at the time If I'm not sure then I shouldn't do it' Taylor 'We liked ...

Re: SPECULATION - Players Leaving

As I've said before I don't think we will see mass departures of key players. Shorey I am 99% certain will be gone. Hunt I am 95% certain will be gone. Doyle 50/50 - it depends if someone is willing to match our valuation of him which will be very high. Lita - I think there is more chance of him no...

Re: Looking FORWARD to 2008/9 already! Understand? NOT Backwards

I'm looking forward to the building of a new team and hopefully the emergence of a new set of players including a few local lads making an impact. However I'm really going to miss the subtle craft of Shorey when he leaves, the tireless work of Doyle and the explosive finishing of Lita. Fingers cross...

Re: FAO Sir Steve

If one of RFCs scouts is to be believed (from a chat a couple of months back) Coppell had decided to go no matter what happened. Coppell = Legend I remember the uproar surrounding that article in which he kind of let it slip. Many on here said it was just a throw away comment. I think it's al...

Re: FAO Sir Steve

Thanks for the good times Coppell but from all that I'm hearing it sounds like it's time to walk.

All the noises imply that he, like a few of his players, haven't the heart to give Reading what we need.

It's going to be an interesting summer!!!

Re: Who's out?

Can someone explain to me how this all works? Can a player force his way out? Most of our players are signed and under contract. When Sunderland went after Hunt in the transfer window, we just said no and that was it. Let's say Sunderland comes after Hunt again. Is it a different set of rules now t...

Re: Coppell's last game?

As critical as I've been of Coppell this season (and at times last season for those that moan that it's only coming about now we're struggling) he's been an absolute legend and a god send for my club. I'm so grateful Peter Taylor turned us down and we got the little genius with the dry wit and dour ...

Re: speculation - Berger

Would all depend on how much he wants to play and prove he's still got what it takes. That and whether his little cameo's would be worth the wages he'd probably be after. We probably couldn't get a more technically gifted or creative player though, so might be worth a gamble. Someone elsewhere made ...

Re: Gylfi Sigurdsson stars for Iceland U19s

I wasn't argueing that the rumour was true, just wondering why you were so certain that they might not have been interested, we've gone off on a bit of a tangent from there because I was just interested what would backup your claims. Fair enough the Wiki pages you provided are a bit out of date. How...

Well, why not? He's the only one who's not been mentioned yet in the never-ending search for a scapegoat. Re: Nicky Shorey

Shorey laughing at the booing wasn't very sensible. There was a slight arrogance about the way he laughed at the boos, as though he wanted to say 'i'm not having a bad game its everyone elses fault and you lot haven't got a clue'. However it seemed to give him a kick in the right direction and he s...

Re: Nicky Shorey

This week's Chronicle (page 5 Thur May 1st) States that Shorey is earning £1,200,000. Coppell is also earning £1,200,000. The average full time wage in Reading is £28,379. It's quite clear that Madejski won't sanction salaries like that in the Champoinship. Why does that come as such a surprise? Ou...

Re: The "Championship won't be all that bad" thread

I won't be too disappointed to see us playing football back in the Championship as long as we go back to being a club trying to better itself instead of the stale old boys club going backwards on the cheap that we've become over the last 18 months. I'd bitterly disappointed with the way the clubs be...

Re: New manager [Merged]

Quite what Nigel Howe does at this club would be nice to know, apart from talk absolute BOLLOCKS on regular occasions. Oh and isn't he JM's driver? I base it on, albeit admittedly on a much smaller scale Colin Lee (ex Wolves, Reading, Walsall) is Chief Executive at Torquay, he is the main man in th...
