Re: RUMOUR - Roy Beerens to Vitesse

This is excellent news. He has been woeful this season and will be on decent sized wages so getting those off the payroll (along with hopefully a bit of a fee) will be very handy.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

For me, although Loader is the one who gets the most attention, Holsgrove is the best prospect we have. Oozes class and once he fills out a little I think we'll see him come through quite quickly.

Re: Rumour - Reise Allassani

Sorry I didn't realise that considering a low cost, low risk signing from the lower leagues meant we couldn't also look at other options to go along side.

How silly of me.

Re: Rumour - Reise Allassani

But it's a low risk strategy. The player will cost relative peanuts for a club our size. That is my original concern. We are potentially taking punts on non-league, cheap talent which is a sign of how poor we are financially. Not suggesting we shouldn't sign him because he is non-league, would just...

Re: BFTG - Nottingham Forest

Aluko frustrates me because I think technically he's a very very good player, but at the moment he seems to be lacking the confidence to drive forward with the ball and instead is constantly going backwards and not really affecting the game (polar opposite to Barrow). Not sure if this is a deliberat...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Have to say I was very impressed with Jordan Holsgrove.

Didn't do anything 'spectacular' but looked in complete control of the game throughout. His one issue may just be a lack of physicality.

Re: Reading FC ltd company announcement

Interesting (and probably quite promising) that they've chosen to pump funds in this way rather than a loan. Your reading is different to mine. Isn't this more to do with diluting other shareholders? Well according to the filing they've paid 52.5p per share for over 30m shares, so that's a very exp...

Re: Reading FC ltd company announcement

All it'll be is the club issuing new shares to the current owners, who will pay a certain amount of money for these shares, in order to raise some cash. Interesting (and probably quite promising) that they've chosen to pump funds in this way rather than a loan.

Re: Rumour: Sone Aluko

The vast majority of modern day transfers have all sorts of ridiculous clauses in them.

Don't take some grossed up £7.5m figure as 'reported' by SSN as the amount we will actually be paying Fulham this summer.

Re: Rumour: Sone Aluko

Have to say I've always been a big fan of Aluko, clever movement, quick, skillful - just the kind of player every football fan loves to watch. Judging him on goals scored is very harsh as he was stuck on the wing for most of last season. £7.5m is a lot of money - but I get the feeling plenty of peop...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Birmingham City (a) sponsored by away goal search

Very professional away performance. On top throughout and maybe could have scored a couple more.

Bodvarsson, Barrow, and Bacuna all excellent. This apparent approach of looking for undervalued players with PL/Championship experience is paying off quite nicely.

Re: CONFIMRED - Leandro Bacuna

Swansea and Leeds fans couldn't wait to tell us how shit Barrow was, but everything we've seen from him has been very positive so far, therefore I'm not going to place too much reliance on the Villa fans' opinions. He's always looked a very tidy player to me. Not outstanding in any particular area, ...

Re: BFTG Gillingham

Having watched Clement at QPR it comes as no surprise to me that he does a better job in the middle.

Seems to be very good technically, plenty of nice touches and finds his man well, but doesn't have the pace or trickery to make an impact out wide.

Will make a good no. 10 one day I reckon.

Positives: JDB and Barrow look useful.

Negatives: Everything else.

Scary just how far off the pace we were.

Has anyone been able to ascertain whether you can use the same iFollow account home & abroad? I'm away for the first 2 games of the season. I want to sign up next week for the overseas version to see those games then use it back in the UK when I can't make away games and I'm out of range of BBC...

Re: Rumour - Modou Barrow

Interesting - felt we needed to add some pace to the team so nice to see that being addressed. Sketchy record, but there's obviously some potential and quality in there. If Jaap can work his magic then we'll have ourselves a bargain. If he can't then at least it's a relatively 'cheap' gamble that ha...

Re: Summer Ins and Outs

The transfer fees shouldn't make too much of an impact as this will just sit on the balance sheet and be amortised over the life of the contact. E.G. we sign Darlow for £5m on a 5 year contract, we'll be incurring a 'cost' for accounting purposes of only £1m (£5m over 5 years) per year. It's the wa...
