Re: The generic transfer thread

In a window where value for money seems to have completely gone out of the, erm, window.. That is a very good piece of business.

Re: RUMOUR - Jon Dadi Bodvarsson

Think people need to remember how woefully short in numbers we are up top atm. We may well still be in the market for a really 'top' striker', but we also need to add some depth and this guy sounds like he has all the attributes to be an excellent squad player. Wolves fans are also, mostly, very pos...

Suspect we wouldn't have announced this unless a new striker was fairly imminent.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

I think it would have taken a special piece of journalism to mess up that particular article, but I get your point. My main frustration is that Mr Low appears to just be churning out page after page over garbage everyday rather than doing any kind of investigative journalism. These are quite interes...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Only reason it's been seen as a 'good interview' is because Jaap has spoken intelligently and openly about his rationale, I doubt it was anything to do with the 'quality' of the interviewer. And as intimated above, the headline is inaccurate at best, libellous at worst. The drop off in quality from ...

He's basically being moved into an oversight role and will have much less influence on the day to day activities.

It's a demotion wrapped up in a promotion.

Re: RUMOUR - Ron Gourlay

We are now rapidly entering unknown territory here. This is a guy who was Chief Executive of Chelsea when they won the Champions League and a number of PL titles, worked in a senior role at Man Utd before that, and is widely credited as a significant factor behind the rise of both clubs. A man with ...

Tore us an absolute new one last year. Very good striker who would be perfect for our system. Would also be a huge statement of intent.

Re: Pre-Season tour - Holland 2017

It does kind of make sense though. Most top flight european teams tend to have a hardened element to their fanbase, and trying to steward that is likely to be both difficult and costly. If they're smart they'll on the sly let in any supporters who have emailed them directly about going out to Hollan...

And hopefully they've given us some ££££'s that have made it hard for us to turn down to.

Sad to see him go, but he's always prone to the odd clanger and his distribution is middling to poor so definitely something we can get over.

Re: Summer Ins and Outs

I think they're all reaching the age now where they need to be playing first team football, however the standard of the clubs they're going to I think shows that they're not up to Championship football. The best outcome for all involved I think, and also clears the path for the likes of Loader and H...

Let us not forget that this is the same Ajax side that reached the final of Europa League last season - not quite being good enough to make their first team in no way indicates he's a bad signing for us at this level.

Re: Royals on the Box/Internet Thread

Have any UK nobbers figured out what sort of setup it requires - what proxy works? Do you need a foreign bank account/address? Guess it may be a case of waiting until the first game of the season to see what works? So - I logged on to the Reading website using a fairly standard proxy and was able t...

As with Jules and Fosu, can't blame Stacey for moving for what I presume will be a regular place in a first team squad Are there any other youngsters remaining out of contract that could be about to jump ship as well? That said, any clue as to how much Reading got for Stacey as he only signed a new...

It wasn't all owed to the Chinese though, it was mostly owed to the Thais who no doubt wanted a significant chunk of that being paid off as part of the takeover deal

Re: RFC Have some money!

So we are now technically about £120 million in debt ? Not quite. Granted we have £60m more debt, but for the moment we also have £60m more in cash (i.e. assets) and therefore the net debt figure is not impacted. I would assume that the club use this £60M to pay off the existing debt. The Chinese w...
