Not quite sure who said it was the club's responsibility to make everyone rich!!! Certainly not me.

Re: Reading's ground staff salary

That's a bizarre comment. What about people who need a job? I left a well paid job to become a carer because I wanted to do something useful and knowingly went on a minimum wage. I had the privilege of choice. Not everyone has that privilege. Apart from anything else why should a club that supposedl...

Reading's ground staff salary

Great. Reading is offering jobs as ground staff at the club for 8.21 per hour. It's barely the minimum wage and is, frankly, a disgrace. Get unionised guys this is a club that does not have your interests at heart.

Yes, thanks for all the BFG reports, which are by far the best way I get a handle on performances given that I can't make matches.

Re: Have Reading ever had a player like a "Pogba B"

I'm surprised that Beavon has been mentioned. He plateaued in about his first game and remained distinctly the same for the rest of his Reading career. Probably far better than most of his team mates but that's not saying a great deal.

Have Reading ever had a player like a "Pogba B"

Watching Pogba under OGS it struck me that Reading have never had a midfield player of his elegance, first touch and vision. Darius Wdowczyk was probably, for me, Reading's most stylish player in the sense that he was more like a new Mercedes than any other player that I can think of but he was a de...

Just seen Johnny Williams has gone from Crystal Palace to Charlton.Shame. He would have been a good cheap signing.

Got to say I thought Gomes's comments were spot on and sounded fairly intelligent. Still think we'll go down though.

Re: CONFIMRED José Gomes

This appointment has all the hallmarks of the Terry 'The Taxi' Bullivant appointment all those years ago. Gomes probably speaks better English and to be honest what he has had to say sounds as sane as intelligent as anyone could say under the circumstances. I mean he doesn't sound like a Neil Warnoc...

Re: Worst ever Reading Player

Good to see a shout for Dave Shipperley and hear mention of his turning circle. Looked like a sort of seven foot tall Ernest Borgnine with the expression of one of those people who always complains of having a 'head cold'. Before Jerry Williams was transformed into a pretty bloody good right back an...

Re: Most disappointing season?

An interesting post and question. I've supported Reading since the mid-70s and expectations were so low then that disappointment never really figured. I never watched Reading expecting anything other than a Saturday afternoon watching a club which, unaccountably, I was obsessed with and loved to fol...

Charlie Watts - great journo

Just thought - assuming Charles Watts occasionally looks on here, although fair play if he doesn't - it was worth mentioning what a great job he does for Get Reading. He writes well, seems genuinely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about everything at the club and, most importantly, keeps the news on ...

Re: MK Dons (A) Prediction Thread

A strangely entertaining 0-0 draw fought out in the middle of the park on a cold and rainy day with muted support and neither team making much headway.

Reading's most unsung hero

Ok, ok, I'm sure that this has been asked before, if not in precisely the same words along the same lines. However, last night I dreamt (quite seriously) of Mick Gooding. On waking up it struck me that of all the players I've watched since I started supporting the club at the age of eight (blimey, t...

If I've said it once I've said it a million times. Brian should wear plus fours and a deerstalker.

Re: Could Oliver Norwood be a Premier League target?

Watching Norwood control the midfield is, quite literally, like observing an ancient cave dweller apply bitumen to stick a flint axe head to the top of his wooden hunting spear.

Oliver Norwood is our very own elastic band. If he were to go it would be like cutting the rubber, so to speak.

Re: BFTG - Bristol

Whatever the rights and wrongs of what Rosenoir says about our undersupplied, overpaid mystery player - and slightly off topic - that is actually an excellent piece by him in the Bristol Post. I'm sure it's part ghost written with a journo but, even so, for a footballer it is way more interesting th...
