Re: Meite as good as Percy Freeman

Worse than a Steve Death v Steve Francis (remember him?) comparison? Wasn't Steve Death meant to be a really great player, but just really short for a goalkeeper? 5'8" or something like that. A bit like Jimmy Quinn being very talented, but also incredibly slow, which limited him as a player mo...

Re: Brentford (H) v Swansea (A) - Championship Play Off Final

Can’t really remember the Bolton defeat. Swansea loss hurt but was over in the first half. The Huddersfield defeat was gutting. For me, the Walsall game was the hardest of them to take. We should have put the tie out of reach in the first half. To screw it up like we did in ET was just heartbreakin...

Re: Brentford (H) v Swansea (A) - Championship Play Off Final

Having referenced our final losses to Bolton and Swansea yesterday Don Goodman brings up the Walsall Final as well. Can’t really remember the Bolton defeat. Re: Mike Conroy

In came Ian Brabfoot, Who overnight changed the style of football he did not pull any punches. It was throw it in the box into the mixer and see what comes out. A total contrast to what we had been watching it was boring as hell but you can’t argue with the fact it got us promoted. This carried on ...

Re: Brentford Play Off losses.

Sounds like the only chance Brentford have of winning a playoff final is if they come up against Reading or at the very least they will lose to a club and set of fans who can genuinely sympathise with their pain. Considering our appearances at Wembley have seen us score 4 v Luton, 3 v Bolton, 2 v S...

Re: Mike Conroy

Promotion one was Maurice Evans team that Branfoot took over in an unpopular Smee move, whilst we occupied the top four. Yes, Ian took it on and was in charge when we crossed the line. Promotion 2 was an excellent achievement as I have already acknowledged, but asi have said, it was after this that...

yes and I said if it happens again it will a return to the best period of British football where we regular had teams winning and in semis and finals Well done for explaining the obvious Eh? The best period of British football in Europe was the 70s and early 80s. English clubs (Liverpool, Forest an...

Re: VAR

Opens the question to me as to what pressure referees are getting behind the scenes to use VAR in a certain way. There is still nowhere near enough transparency on VAR decisions. What did Kavanagh see in the replays that made him issue a red card? What was said to Kavanagh on his ear-piece? What di...

Re: Pauno out

It is madness to change manager every 9 months. It makes me sick, and it's everything I hate about football. Unfortunately people (owners and a lot of fans) want instant success these days, and any failure to match these often unrealistic expectations means "the manager must go". It's stu...

Re: How much does 'luck' play a part in results?

Not really one for Snowball as it is not a measurable statistic but how much does luck play in a team's progress through a season and how much is down to skill/hard work/good referees. Some examples: In the Swansea game Joao was wrestled to the ground by a player already on a yellow card. If it was...

Re: European Super League

Clubs who go into administration generally carry on playing, which is why their results still stand. If they are kicked out, their results will no longer count. That's what always happens when a club has to quit during a season.

Re: European Super League

Probably putting 2 and 2 together here but I can really see the ESL going down a US model, given who is involved i.e. ownership and JP Morgan. The clubs will essentially become franchises and players will sign to the SuperLeague and not a club. There will essentially then be an auction or draft whe...

Broken up into blocks of 8 games each... 1-8, 22 points 9-16, 8 pts 17-24, 13 pts 25-32, 10 pts 33-40, 15 pts That doesn't really point to a collapse. It points to the inevitable consequence of five months of picking up fewer ppg that the other sides up there. Of course, had Barnsley not had their ...

Re: Rival Watch

It couldn’t be any worse but we only have ourselves to blame. Yep we had enough chances we choked when it mattered. After Cardiff beat us next week we could be looking at an 8th or 9th finish. I think Parlo has to take the blame for this collapse. Poor team selections insistence on playing out from...

He's making them, yet to see him learn from them. Yeah this. It’s all well and good saying “oh it’s better to make mistakes now”, well true, but what’s to say he doesn’t keep making them? Pauno has definitely deserved until the end of the season, but at present we are the architects of our own down...

Re: Paul Canoville get well soon

Played for us 1986-88 during the two second tier seasons under Ian Branfoot. cost around £60,000 I believe which was cheap even back then. Was amazing for the first few weeks then as someone said above he got a horrific injury at Sunderland which basically finished him, although I recall he did try...

Young and hungry loanees would be good to see. Like others have suggested a wideman or forward would do nicely. Liam Delap (Man City) or Ellis Simms (Everton) two promising players in PL2. We’ll probably look at Benfica / Porto / Sporting knowing our scouts though I'd hope not. We wouldn't be able ...

Royal Ginger Esteves is only the third reading player to wear number 2 in the last 10 years taking it from Chris Gunter. No googling, who is the third man?

Quite a few have looked "number 2", but I don't know about wearing it.
