Reading vs Pompey(A) Match Thread (2/46)

by leww_rfc » 14 Aug 2010 14:55

Reading (4-3-2-1): Federici; Griffin, Williams, Pearce, Gunnarsson; Karacan, Howard, Sigurdsson, Kebe, McAnuff, Church.
Subs: Hamer, Davies, Antonio, Robson-Kanu, Taylor, Rasiak, Hunt.

No Mills is a big worry. Happy to see Church and Howard starting once again However!

Portsmouth (4-4-2): Ashdown, Dickinson, Wilson (c), Ritchie, Sonko, Mullins, Brown, Hughes, Ciftci, Utaka, Nugent.
Subs: O'Brien, Ward, Gregory, Pack.

4 Subs

Church and Howard is particularly pleasing, bit disappointed to see Tabb having to miss out, look forward to his return and am extremely worried about Matt Mills' absence today

Strange the way McD said something along the lines of 'Not sure about Matt Mills, we'll have to have a look at him', when it was completely obvious he wasn't going to play as he's not trained all week.

Griffs got the Armband by the way! Pompey with 4 subs, any inuries to them would be catastrophic!

Does anyone know what formation Pompey will play?

Wilson is named as a midfielder in some places and Ritchie was described as a left winger on Wikipedia.

I'm guessing Ciftci will be part of a forward three with Nugent and Utaka.

Our OS says 4-4-2, no idea where to find anything on their OS however!

Doubt he's match fit and by that I mean he probably is only good for 20 minutes at 100%. Also we don't want to force him back too quickly.

Just noticed that. Hopefully that will mean they have a midfielder playing centre back (though I think Wilson played defence last season), a young winger playing full back and maybe a left footer at right back.

On the other side I do worry about Utaka's pace against Pearce and Gunnarsson.

Despite all their problems, Pompey have some quality players at this level in that starting 11. Add the partisan crowd that will be there for their 1st home game; this won't be an easy 90 minutes.

It was obvious as soon as he got injured last Saturday that he wouldn't be back for a while. We'll have another centre back soon, don't worry.
Tabb was also injured and no surprise to see him out today.

Anyone else having issues with logging into the commentary on the OS?

Edit: On now.

All our subs are attacking players or Hamer: injuries to us aren't great either.
