Chris Armstrong

Chris Armstrong is back in training and could play 45 minutes in a reserve game in a couple of weeks. Ivar Ingimarsson also on way back and could play too.

Clearly the positive prognosis on these 2 players is the reason why we aren't in the market for new defenders despite the threadbare situation wer are in at this immediate moment in time.

In other words, if we can get through the next 3 or 4 games relatively unscathed, we will be stronger for the return of Stretch and Ingi.

I like the prospect of the back four being... Griffin, Mills, Ivar, Armstrong :)

I really hope for Chris' sake as well s our own that he can get back to full fitness.

That'd be a quality defence!

Add Tabb in midfield and hopefully our form will improve.

It would certainly be "statuesque".

Griffin and Armstrong are hardly slow. No slower than Murty and Shorey but I didn't hear any complaints then.

He's been close to a return before (he even played 90 minutes in the Burton game this time last season) so I still won't be holding out too much hope of him getting back to match fitness for a couple of months...let alone being back to anywhere near his best.

Ingimarsson is slightly better news, although they fixed up the Orient game to give him a run out last week and he had to pull out, so again, not holding out too much hope for this comeback in the next 10 days or so. His last first team game was in March and there's no guarantee he's going to come back near to his best.

If these two coming back is all we can hope for in terms of defensive additions we're in big big trouble…l won't be holding out too much hope of him getting back to match fitness for a couple of months...let alone being back to anywhere near his best.

I think that you will find that Focher's statement was very much tongue in cheek.

A Chris armstrong return to fitness would be good for morale. It is easy to forget that he is still only 28. Williams needs someone to keep him on his toes, especially after recent performances.

Like Noel Hunt, a key key player and they both need wrapping in cotton wool. Chris Armstrong is one of, if not the best left back in this division. It'll be like having a new player if/when he returns.

When I read this, it smacked of a propaganda message from the Club. I really hope he is close to return, god knows we need him, but I have a niggling doubt that he will not be fully fit for a little while.

As I recall there was some thoughts that his career was over, so I am not expecting miracles. *crosses fingers*
