I chanced upon this film, which is from 1929 and is a cup game vs Villa, which Reading lost 3-1. I would imagine this is the first match from Elm Park captured on film? There's an Arsenal vs Villa game first and then Reading vs Villa (about one minute in) from a snow-bound Elm Park, featuring one of our greats as captain, Alf Messer. http://www.britishpathe.com/video/well- ... g+football

Good stuff Biscuit. Love how the pitch is totally unplayable but they just played it anyway.

A goal that always stands out in my mind for no reason in particular, from the legend that was Tony Barass. Forgot that Luton missed a pen, Alexander didn't miss very many and he scored a very important pen against us a decade later of course.....

fozzy The Southern TV / Old Footage thing has been round the block a few times. A few people out there claim to have some of the Southern stuff (Crewe, Northampton were a couple from memory) but no-one has ever come through with an offer to give/trade for some of my stuff.

I personally have a source for the Reading v Arsenal footage from 1972 - highlights as broadcast on ITV on Sunday 6th Feb 1972- however the source is in the ITV network itself and it comes at a cost : (1) 200 quid for the rights and (2) cannot be used for commercial use OR uploading to any internet source e.g. youtube. Even if I shared the cost of the footage with 20 other people it would have been my personal responsibility to ensure it remained private to us. There's no chance of policing that.

In addition to the 26+ seasons, I have most live games from 1987 onwards and also extended highlights - Arsenal FA Cup, Chelsea League Cup etc. I'd trade something for the Southern stuff or I think someone mentioned they had one of the full games from 1985-86 season (the club video, not TV). Else I'm not keen as such on giving away what I have because at the moment it's the only lever I have to persuade people who are hoarding the other stuff to part with it!

Arsenal 1972 was the last game that I watched with my Dad; I was 9 years old; I can still remember the wonderful, innocent joy of watching Barry Wagstaffe's equaliser from the other end. I was at the Tilehurst End and was one of a few children who were crushed (briefly, thankfully) when the barrier broke; we watched the end of the game pitch side of the wall and I can remember the heartbreak of John Harley's deflection taking the ball past Steve Death; I would dearly love to see/ obtain the 'Big Match' film which appeared the following day as I believe that (again briefly) my Dad and I could be picked out on film (with a pause and a microscope no doubt). I've always thought the film had been destroyed; if it hasn't been and there is some way I could access it/ buy it; using complete care discretion and confidentiality I can assure you; this would mean a great deal to me, personally. Any chance?

Not really relevant, but I briefly played cricket with John Harley in the late 1990's - nice chap.

Random one this - has anyone got the goals from Oxford Utd 1-3 Reading, 7/3/00 they could get round to sharing via You Tube :?:

http://www.royals.org/matdoc/070300.html

One of my favourite RFC away games ever, I always felt this was the game in which we got our pride back after 5 years of feeling sorry for ourselves following the Bolton defeat at Wembley. Mainly I'd like to see if I can spot myself in either of the mental crowd surges which greeted our two first half goals in front of the away end 8)

The worst goalkeeper I have seen in a Reading shirt. He topped Nicky Colgan, and that takes some doing!

There used to be a guy on the Royalmail mailing list (might have been Ben something, who went onto work at BBC Berks), his Dad used to video games at Elm Park and sell copies, These games were mostly never televised. He still had the copies about 10 years back - maybe he's upgraded to DVD or youtube?

platypus probably remembers who this guy was.

Nick Shorey my Lord! Not sure if this one has been posted before, fairly new on youtube. Wigan 0 Forster 2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3jTlg09sSw

Oh he's so greedy
Oh he should pass more

What a load of balls. Quality striker.

Sheff Utd 1 Forster 2 (Williams 1) - pretty sure this one has been posted but it's worth another watch.

Notice how many other chances he missed in that Wigan game though. Quality striker nonetheless.

Fozzy scored a memorable goal the year later at Brammal Lane in October 2003 - I think this was also Ivars first game for the club. Probably Fozzys best Reading goal that one.

After he returned from his serious knee injury in 2001, up to 2004, he was awesome and cemented himself as a true Reading Great.

Yeah, I loved the way we even teased them to let them get back to 4-4 from 1-4 and then just broke away again.
