Tony Le Mesmer Action from Preston home 1982/83. Our lowest ever home league gate.

I loved that ball from the early 80s, red hexagonal hoop.

handbags_harris Indeed he did. In fact, here's some Old Trafford footage from the previous season, a game in which Murty played and Barras scored:- Manchester Utd 0-3 York City.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neWTcTVI ... re=related

I came across this match sometime last season I think. What made me chuckle was at the end Murty goes down with an injury after a seemingly innocuous looking aerial challenge with Denis Irwin!

Enjoyed working my way through this thread, so far, been meaning to for ages  I bought the Seasons Greetings 1994 video (for no more than a pound from the Ashford shopping centre around the turn of the century) but have always wanted highlights of games from later in the season (I came across the Wembley game on Youtube). Good to see that Tranmere game - reminds me of that Saints away game in April 2012. Also good to see the Charlton highlights from 1994, don't think the footage on the video was anywhere near as long as that. Incredible game at Exeter too, that FL record of everyone scoring twice I don't think will ever be beaten.

Hmm, season highlights / history..... something for STAR to help preserve by archiving? - I assume they already do, but it'll be good to know copies exist somewhere safe for all time.

Yes. Only league game in history where five players have scored two goals each.

Something I didn't know until Ark Royal himself mentioned it earlier in the thread.

And going back to that game at Exeter where we won 6-4, I was as ill as a very ill person and Ark Royal predicted the 6-4 scoreline before the game.

Out of curiosity, is there a link to the game at Turf Moor when we won 1-0 with a Mick Gooding header in 1994/95?

Point of pedantic order - that would have been 93/94. John Humphrey was also sent off that game and missed the Stockport match later that month. 94/95 was a 2-1 win in a monsoon, Scotty Taylor scoring an absolute brahma.

Doesn't look to be anything of either on Youtube sadly.

That game was the coldest I've ever been at a football match. I was living in Manchester at the time and drove up convincing myself that there was absolutely no way the game would go ahead. It was so wet, when the ball went out of play, it would float off down the cinder track surrounding the pitch. I bought 4 black coffees at half time and just sat on the terrace trying to warm my hands off the steam, watching the mist and clouds rolling down of the Pennines and engulfing the whole town. Quite an erie sight.

Scotty scoring an absolute belter but it was real backs to the wall Alamo stuff for the last 20 minutes.

We were convinced it was going to be called off, but did not hear anything on the radio, so kept driving. Burnley is ALWAYS cold, but that day seemed even colder. Shaka struggled with the small lake that was forming in his area in the second half. Managed to get some respite under the huge Longside Terrace and Terminal Boardom went on the longest solo terrace surge I have ever witnessed when we scored. Think that was Lee Nogan's debut and a scoring one.
