You're probably right, but I'm sure I saw a game in the Seventies (I think it was at Peterborough) where Gary Peters broke his leg, but didn't come off. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure he scored a goal in the game after his injury.

Tom Jones walked off the pitch after getting his right leg broken by Kelly Haag (Barnet) in 1993. He had only just come back from another broken leg. We won 4-1.
