Perhaps not memorabilia in the strict sense but finally got around to copying some of my old video tapes of my kids onto DVDs. Apart from my then 6 year old son and 4 year old daughter forever being seen in Reading shirts, I have just come across some footage I shot at the Elm Park Auction!

Part of it shows the attempted auction of the floodlights with the auctioner not being prepared to drop below £1,000 because 'scrap value must nearly be that'. There was also discussion of the value of the lamps themselves and the possibility of selling them separately from the pylons.

Felt quite sad seeing the old place being sold off like that.

Post the footage of the auction Blue, I'd love to see it.

Was there on auction day.

All I can say is that it was properly upsetting to lose Elm Park.

Bad enough at the last league game and the friendlies that followed.

But to see it partitioned and flogged off. Heartbreaking.

Glad I nicked the bog sign from the SB while the ground was still properly 'live'.

I miss that place very badly indeed.

Will do so, although it may take me a little while as I'm back off to the US shortly.

Many thanks to all the posters. Please keep up the good work.

Agreed.
Although the pet want/have thread on AE is running it a close second.

Here's a couple I took from outside the directors box this afternoon. I'm not quite old enough to tell you the years these were taken, sadly.

and a not so 'memorabilia' picture.. the Madejski basking in the sun today.

pic one - looks like Les Chappell in background - around 1971?
pic two - Trevor senior and Steve Moran either side of wall - 1989/90?

Barry Wagstaff is the number 6 in pic one? And isn't it Mad Max Bremner rather than Moran in the second? Doesn't look rotund enough for Moran. I will also hazard a guess at some of the others in the picture. Dean Horrix, Stuart Beavon and Steve Wood?

Trying to narrow it down. I think the players in the pic are (l/r): Francis, Tait, Richardson, Senior, Jones, Elsey, Beavon, Payne, Gilkes.

Wow - are you working off the numbers in the programme or just a good spotter? Thought it looked too thin for Francis but Tait and Richardson fit well. Didn't realise Elsey was that tall and who was Payne?

As for Moran/Bremner  Can now see that what I thought was just an effect of the light is, in all probability, black skin!
