Akpan's Amazing Assists - best passer at the club???

by Millsy » 30 Jan 2013 22:38

I'm speechless.

Not a mishit this time but phenomenal assists. The sort Guthrie SHOULD be doing.

When he joined I thought he was meant as a defensive midfielder but reports suggested he is a rubbish tackler but good passer. Now I see why. This league 1 nobody sliced Europe's champions' defence apart with ease.

I'm just stunned. Best eye for a pass at the club?

(and not wanting to start another thread I take back my assertion that Pog is the best finisher I've seen. At the risk of sounding like a knee jerker, Alfie to me is comparable to if not better than Curo)

Lovely tackle in their box. Nothing came of it but he was suddenly stood there with it. He's a big unit.

Yes I saw that. Turned a developing counter attack from Chelsea on its head and could've been number 3. (or our first). Alfie's shot was just a yard out.

Akpan is a frikking legend.

May come in for Sunderland if Legs/Guthrie/Karacan aren't up to it

And I look forward to seeing the boy start if he does

Impressive few minutes today, when Guthrie, Karacan and McAnuff all looked peripheral in midfield

Bit too soon to commit to him playing 90 minutes IMO. Ease him in. Legs has been improved since his week off, less good today, but not that bad.

if we drop ledge and put in akpan we are basically trading a defender for an attacker. imo ledge needs to play for the time being because we absolutely need strong defensive performances. akpan should come in when we need a goal much like alfie.

Let's get things into perspective, for almost that whole first half chelsea looked nothing special. This system is working and I see no reason to start akpan YET. He has only played about 30mins of prem football lets not chuck him in the deep end with a start
