We score first. Get pushed back. Concede. Bite nails. Alfie on. Nothing happens for him. We all feel sad. 1:1

I think we'll get spanked 3-1

Reason:

4-5-1 is not working out for us on the offensive. Dress it up all you like in that it supposedly makes us tougher to break down, but we are still conceding far too many goals, and worst still we rarely get a shot on goal. It's only when we are losing late on and go to 4-4-2 do we start looking a threat.

We can't keep sneaking late wins and draws like we have been, and if we stick to 4-5-1 then it's only a matter of time before we see those results turn into frustrating defeats and we start falling behind the pack.

We said that last time tbf. We also missed out on our 'big' transfer targets then as well (Cahill).

But hey, you never know.

Ah but Sparta that was the times when we were good in the first half of the season and shit in the second half, it's the other way round now.

starting 4-5-1 - conceeded 10, scored 9, won 11 points in 7 games.
4-4-2 - conceeded 18, scored 9, won 3 points in 7 games.

Yeah man, this isn't working, we must switch back to 4-4-2.

We've scored the same number of goals in games and conceeded almost half as many. We've picked up three times more points.

When comparing the 4-4-2 games versus the 4-5-1 try to remember that:

(a) Early on Federici was out of form and lost us points directly.

(b) Gorkss (it appears) simply wasn't up to the job and Pearce was frozen out, Marriappa not getting game time

(c) Neither Cummings nor Gunter was quite up to scratch

(d) Elwood was off form.

(e) Pog was a bit meh and looked demotivated.

(a) Feds is now back to pretty decent form

(b) Marriappa Pearce are a solid CB pairing

(c) Kelly looks a league better than the two guys he's replaced

(d) Elwood has returned to form

(e) Pog is running his balls off and doing his job

So for me, it's more to do with the players learning, a far better defence, and some improvement up front,
far less than the differences between the two systems. Remember when we tried 451 early we were crap.

I dearly hope we avoid defeat tomorrow (I think we may start 442 with Alf-Pog) but admit to feeling very worried.

Play for the draw and roll le dice at 75 minutes, 1-0.

Expect a win tomorrow, we need to get a good result to carry some momentum into the crucial home games coming up.

Not confident about this one. Think we'll be outplayed but hang on for the point. Graham & Kebe to score.

This'll be my 7th game this season and I've yet to attend a defeat. Now that I've stated that, sod's law dictates we lose.

0-3 Mariappa sent off.

(Followed by a 3 game winning run)

Hoping for a 2-0 Rs. Would be fantastic if we would be 3 points clear tomorrow. Not sure who Villa and Wig an have got.
