P!ssed Off Owusu was a winger filling in at left back.
Of that U18 team, he was the least talented.

Either him or Sammi.

Owusu was basically the Academy Andy Hughes, he had a goal in him and could play in loads of positions but ultimately wasn't great in any of them.

Griffin and particularly Long are real headscratchers. Long's basically Owusu without the wondergoals or versatility. Griffin's pretty ordinary.

Jules can play left back. Omar Richards is the next in line but he's only 18 and quite precocious (hopefully he gets time for the U23s this year). There's also the Icelandic lad, Sindi thingymabob, but I've never seen him play and he seems to be behind Richards anyway.

Edit: there's also Jake Sheppard who is a "proper footballer" but a) always injured b) lacking a clear position c) always injured.

Yeah, I though Sammi the Fridge was the ordinary player back then. Otherwise it was an embarrassment of riches. Maybe I only really caught Owusu on good days.

Shame as he had a great name for football. And he had a beast of a throw in iirc. Delap made a career out of that. I liked Owusu purely on the chant capabilities.

Agreed. Far too many teams discard players without giving proper consideration to the chant possibilities.

The name Nana is built for great chants. Unfortunately its also built for racist chants...

He was doing that last season, I wonder if it's with a view to converting him ?
Would be a very good wing back but whether he has the discipline to make the change I have no idea. Obita has never looked a 'natural' defender, would be handy if Stacey has the attributes.

What do people think of Dominic Hyam? Could he get a first team chance this season?

At last, we are now starting to get consistency across the age groups, first signs that Stam's methods are working.....

I'd have taken Samuel off after 10 minutes

and put him on the train to Cardiff. Clearly the best striker in the club at the moment.
