back in the car from the Brighton (H) game

Awful. Spoiled by the ref. But Why was Alf on the wing? Why was bridge on the bench if he was fit enough to play? No width. No cteativity.Bemusing stuff.

The red made it better, without the sendings off I'm not sure anything would've happened at all...

Awful - yes
Spoiled by the ref - no, spoiled by silly player antics
Alf on the wing - yes, no idea
Bridge on the bench - no idea, perhaps only had one half in him?
No width - true
No creativity - wasn't bad but nothing in final third. I wonder why
Bemusing stuff - yes

Just no cutting edge to our game, better second half.

Left with 1.54 left on the clock. Were the last few mins any better. Got out of the car park in record time though.

Listless and toothless...for all of Pog's idiocy in getting sent off we totally fail to utilise him anyway. He's not a creator, he's a finisher and we give him nothing to finish. We don't seem to have a clue how to create chances and our movement is just..yes, bemusing.

Poor, but another clean sheet in a stupid game. Full backs excellent. Centre backs atrocious. Ref was a nob.

Pretty shit but the second half wasn't as bad as the first.

First time I've seen Bridge play for us - he was class. After half-time I actually thought Adkins had won the tactical battle as we were controlling the game but fair play to BHA, hit us on the break several times and created good chances.

Reading - not enough players in the box to trouble a packed defence. Some good balls in but not enough bodies in the centre. Was glad for it to end.

Roll on Wednesday.

Alf wasn't exactly playing on the wing.
He started as the left sided attacking player in a 4-2-3-1.
However, I am a little puzzled as to why he didn't start in the centre of the three where he could feed of the front one.

Our biggest problem is the huge distances between players when we attack, crossing when the nearest player is miles away is difficult and just passing to someone who can only have a distance effort is just too easy to defend against.

Drenthe is sure to have defenders double up on him so where is the pass on close by to help isolate and split up opposition defences? Same for most of the forwards, little movement and miles away from each other to really get in a dangerous position. Defence and midfield look plenty good enough for this division - Brighton edged it but they're hardly world beaters like most others in the Championship including Reading.

I thought it was 442 in attack and 451 in defence with Alf on the wing.

Bridge was decent, McCarthy was excellent when required. Apart from that very poor

Even when we had space to go forward into we chose to pass sideways or backwards giving Brighton time to execute their gameplan of getting people behind the ball and hitting us very neatly on the break. Tactics were really shit today and didn't fit the team we put out.

McCarthy - 8 - MOTM
Gunter - 7 - Fairly solid, worked incredibly hard as our only option for width.
Pearce - 4 - Utterly dreadful first half. Grabbed their striker's neck every time he got the chance. Sloppy with the ball.
Morrison - 5 - Made a few stupid mistakes, did okay.
Kelly - 6 - Massive lol when he pulled the bloke's shorts down. Decent enough, surprised he was subbed.
Guthrie - 6 - Quiet game by his standards, some great passing but often made easy mistakes. Showed for the ball every time.
Williams - 5 - Didn't really notice him at all.
Karacan - 5 - Ran a lot. That's about it.
Drenthe - 4 - Very poor, deservedly subbed. Lost the ball every time.
Alf - 5 - Not the striker we needed, didn't win anything all day.
Pog - 5 - Medium before the crazy red card. Will be missed.

Bridge - 8 - Classy fucker. More please.
HRK - 6 - His best performance this season, which says a lot about previous games. Never looked like he'd beat his man and I'd rather McAnuff got the chance.
Blackman - N/A - Didn't really have any time to make an impact.

It's a Sunday thing...

Nothing at all felt right today. BHA annoyed me - fairly decent support, empty south stand.

Pog - some say it was harsh but I've heard differently. If that's right then I'm beyond fuuucked off with him

Alf - good game but no service

McCarthy excellent - by far the best player we have

Those 3 stood out for me. Atmosphere was terrible although no criticism as the game was shiat
