Unless we chose that we'd rather have them on the wage bill over Jobi.

My point was that the club have no choice as they are under contract so they obliged to pay the wages. I really can't see the club deciding not to sell any of those if any sort of offer came in.

Been one of our best players every season since his arrival.

Sad to see him go.

PieEater It also implies that we've all but given up hope of getting Drenthe, Pog, Guthrie, Pearce and Williams off the wage bill.

Well yeah, if they haven't been sold 5 days after the season ends they'll never go

under the tin I remember an interview by Coppell where he was talking about Kebe, and he quipped "if he was the complete article, he wouldn't be playing for us"

That quote could apply to anyone we've ever signed.

I've got nothing new to add really but wanted to add my name to those who are sad to see him go and who will miss him. He was a great servant to our club, always gave 100% and was a source of experience and advice for the younger players. All cliches I know but, in Jobi's case, they are true. He also came across as an articulate, caring guy who was passionate about Reading FC. Best wishes for the future Jobi - I salute you!

I'm totally gutted. We had two of the best wingers in the league in Kebe and McAnuff for a few years, now they're both gone :(
We've still got McCleary and Obita, but it looks like twatkins prefers his teams to dick around with it in their own half rather than tearing up the wings and crossing it in for strikers to bang home.
I reckon he might follow McD somewhere, whether that's Leeds or not who knows.
I can't imagine it's totally a wages thing either. Players his age accept wage decreases as they get into the autumn of their career. Remember how long it took twatkins to even select him? Christmas ish. Clearly the two don't get along. That'll be because McAnuff is quality and twatkins sucks ass!
ps, in case you haven't realised, i don't like adkins.

Thanks for adding the PS. It really clarifies matters.

I agree Jobi should have got more games this season.

Doesn't need to be. The old ones are sometimes the best. Heard a bloke from Lancashire refer to his dad "alright fat lad" the other day, nearly wet myself!!

Of all the pathetic, childish posts I've had the misfortune to read on here, that's up there.

And that is saying something.

bit of truth in it tho'

Our season never even showed signs of kick-starting until Jobi was recalled.

Looking back on it now, we played our best football when Jobi wasnt in the team, we were playing Roy in the hole with pace out wide with Hal and G Mac. Ok we were not getting reaults but if we stuck with we would have got their, just look at Liverpool. I would prefer us to play good football and miss out on the playoffs than hoof ball and miss out on the playoffs. Im not saying Jobi wouldnt have fittes into that system but you know that if he is playong its becuase Nigel wants to be more direct.

And yet we had our best start to the season in years.

Made me laugh when people were trailing this line earlier this season as if to disprove all evidence to the contrary that we weren't improving under Adkins. Best start to a season in 8 whole years....when we had a better start. 3 of those intervening seasons were in the Premier League, of course. And we only actually won 2 of our opening 6 league games in any case. And got absolutely humiliated against a lower division team in the cup. As Loyd Grosman himself used to say: "THE CLUES ARE THERE".

Then people pointed out that words of dissent were wide of the mark as we had somehow made it to December unbeaten at home. Thereafter we won a whopping 3 games at the Madj.

Floyd > Loyd > Reading fans.

Floyd - Riddle me this then (as you are so clearly anti-Adkins...

Realistically, who else is a) available, and b) would want to come here?

Please don't say Eamon DoLOLan.
