I rather think he was referring there to Smee not being a multimillionaire.
Surely the Rockfort bit rather gave it away?

my bad I missed that bit...

but he did go bust for 250m which is a fair amount plus his declared family holding net worth is 4m+

Going bust for 250 million means you spent money you didn't have. It doesn't mean you ever had 250 million. Hence my comments about lifestyle versus actual wealth.....

Not sure what your 4 million refers to. But 4 million does not make you a multimillionaire, especially if it just an accountants valuation of a company you own rather than actual money....

No sign of Sassy again today, do our new owners actually attend games?.
on another note wouldn`t it be nice to see some goal celebrations from the directors box?

To most people, Smee would seem to be very rich. He isn't counting his pennies, and the nature of his "money trouble" is entirely different to that most people have.

However, "very rich" isn't enough to run a football club. Even Madejski's "very very rich indeed" isn't enough to run a football club any more.

Wasn't it mentioned somewhere that she's back in Thailand and won't be back until October or something? May have got the time of her return wrong but pretty sure she's not in the country atm.

Yeah - why can't we have owners who wear the shirt or at least an oversized club scarf, like Mike Ashley, or who sit with the fans like Cellino of Leeds..............................

Oh.

Nameless 99% of us had never heard of SJM when he rescued us from a hole as big as the one the Thai's have helped with.
We'd heard of Roger Smee but he had no money meaning he was never going to be anything other than short term.

.

Not exactly true. IIRC he had plenty of money from his property investment company when he took us over and was quite a wealthy man. However, he blew some of his money on keeping Reading FC afloat and then the property market and, consequently his personal wealth, took a big downturn. Also, IIRC, he felt that part of the reason his property company took a down turn was that he had been paying too much attention to RFC and not enough to his other business.

100% correct. Whilst SJM is rightly credited with getting us where we are today, I feel Roger Smee's exploits in extricating us from the clutches of a certain fat socialist crooked bastard is never given it's full credit. I truly hope the aforementioned labour supporting shit is rotting in hell for all the pain and misery he brought onto so many innocent people. I count one of his former business colleagues as a personal friend and can vouch from first hand experience that that socialist scum would have shafted his own mother if it meant a few quid in his pocket. A truly, truly nasty piece of work. We should be VERY thankful he didn't get his fat fingers into RFC. You can be 100% sure that if he had, we wouldn't be here today supporting RFC.

I agree with everything you say other than describing him as a Socialist. Maxwell was very much a capitalist who described himself as socialist.

Robert Maxwell was like most of the Labour politicians of today. Out to feather their own nests and make as much money as you can in the shortest possible time at the expense of the worker, pensioner and one parent family. I personally think he got plastic surgery and came back as Gordon Brown .... Maxwell dipped into the pension funds Brown did exactly the same in a legal sense when he raided the private pensions fund. Rant over

Maxwell was still a dick

I'm in the West Lower and I can see from where I am the people in the directors box celebrating goals along with everyone else in the West Lower. Just because we aren't giving oxf*rd signs to the away fans doesn't mean we're enjoying it any less.

I always enjoy those who like to bash the west stand - especially as if they know how the rest of the stadium is celebrating presumably they are not and are busy checking on who is showing themselves to be 'real' supporters :D

This from the programme notes on Sunday is about the most I've seen anywhere about the new owners.

Khunying Sasima Srivikorn is a very successful leading business lady in Thailand who has accumulated more than 50 years of experience in various business including Private Schools, Hotel, Real Estate and Carpet Manufacturing. She received many royal decorations bestowed by His Majesty the King of Thailand for her contribution for social and public service.

Narin Niruttinanon is among the current generation of one of Thailand’s most respected industrial families that has become one of the world's leading food processing and agriculture companies. Narin is an advocate of seafood sustainability and responsible fishing and involved in a number of fishery improvement programs.

Sumrith Thanakarnjanasuth is a major shareholder and CEO of Universal Apparel Co.,Ltd., a leading manufacturer and exporter of casualwear & sportswear garments for global international brands including Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, Adidas and Reebok. He is also involved in property development including housing and condominiums.

Pretty good description and yes, at the very least, he and Brown could have been twins separated at birth! Maxwell inflicted the first serious wounds on Defined Benefit schemes when his antics led to reforms & restrictions on the surpluses that schemes were allowed to hold in funds. Brown then carried on 'the good work' and killed off the overwhelming majority of DB schemes (surprise, surprise, MPs keep theirs) when he changed tax treatment of dividends to help fill in some of his black holes.

Cleared our debts and allowed us to sign Murray, Cox & Norwood. You know, those players who are having fairly big impacts on the pitch for us (3 assists and 7 out of our 14 league goals between them). And helped sign Mackie*.

 Mackie, Norwood, Cox and Murray. Not to mention the fact that we're not in administration. I'm pretty happy so far.

Mackie, Norwood, Cox, Murray and no threat of administration. How's that for starters?
