Karacan seems to have hit 25 years of age pretty quickly and not really player THAT much first team football.....

Honestly believe Jem would be my choice too. He's popular and leads by example. Hopefully he stays clear of injury

Being injured for the best part of a season and a half does that to a player.

Good choice IMO. Popular among fans and the dressing room and always vocal on the pitch and passionate for the club. I imagine Gunter is vice captain, based on the fact he had the armband during the first half of the Yeovil friendly and Morrison and Pearce were also on the pitch.

I guess we'll find out if he's a good choice or not, but I personally see him as the joker in the pack. It's a bit like giving Gazza the armband. I'm not convinced, especially two career threatening injuries. The arm band will be passed around a bit this season, and that's not a good thing IMO.

i believe that to be nonsense.absolutely bugger all like giving the captaincy to gazza

his attitude and effort are second to none. he is a good shouter/waver/pointer.
what else could you need on the pitch.#

he's media savvy, and a good talker off it.

214 first team appearances (including loan spells) and having missed the majority of one season due to injury is a pretty impressive tally.

Romelu Lukaku has made 184 career appearances, I wouldn't say he's ready to captain a club yet...

Clearly the fact that Karacan has been with the club so long has a bearing on it. Lukaku's moved around a lot. Not to mention that they may have very different personalities.

I would say Lukaku would be in a better position to be a captain with a World Cup under his belt and more life experience at different clubs. The point really was Jem still hasn't played THAT much football and from what I've seen of him, he isn't gr8. A headless chicken comes to mind.

This a very harsh criticism. He has a good head on his shoulders and let us hope that this next season he will prove you and other doubters wrong.

Hmm, it's all scales of quality isn't it. Reading are a Championship club and don't have world cup players to chose from. Played more then Sean Morrison.

Thought Pearce is the obvious choice. We lack leaders in our team which shows if your giving Jem the armband.
