liamobey I never understand why this record is something that the fans want to protect? We aren't gonna do it again are we? So what if another team beats it? It doesn't make us any worse or better at football in the present does it?

It's not as if any of the remaining team are members of the record breakers either. I'm pretty sure none of them give a monkeys.

sINGING THE 106 SONG is the worst.

Your post is so true m8, it's inspired me to take up the religion of Jehovah as there's literally no point in celebr8ing anything, ever.

Brum Royal A team of our historical standing doesn't have a lot to shout about though really does it? We don't have any Premier League/First Division titles and no European trophies. Prior to the two recent Championship titles, we had a couple of third and fourth tier titles and a (now defunct) cup win that only ran for three years. Most clubs up and down the land have won the third and fourth tier at least once, so it's not really something to use to distinguish ourselves.

But claiming the record points haul for winning the second tier is probably the greatest acheivement in the club's history, and if you can't celebrate that, then what can you celebrate? Villa and Forest still sing about winning the European Cup, yet they happened before any of the current players were born, should they not celebrate that?

All true but still a lame song

Don't tell other people what they can be proud of or how they can express that pride.

HAHAHA what a stupid thing to say.
How would you ever establish personal ethics and beliefs if you didn't question anyone's motives?

What was it you said about Mark Robins? You'd rather him as our manager than NA?

Has Steve Death's record of 1,074 minutes without conceding a goal in English league football fallen?

Also, his Reading record of 156 consecutive first team appearances might be worth tracking, although I doubt any of the current squad are close.

Big Foot sINGING THE 106 SONG is the worst.
With the following exceptions:

1. The next time we play Sunderland in the Championship as we took their 105 record away from them.

2. When we're playing a team who have just failed to reach 106, ideally because we're beating them on the last day of the season when they needed all 3 points to clinch the record.

3. If a Peugeot 106 enters the field of play driven by a lazy pitch invading Reading fan who can't be bothered to walk/run.

Van Der Sar beat that one about 5 years ago by some distance

Ah but he's foreign, so Death still holds the record for an English keeper and also for a Reading keeper :D

Interesting that already all our league's teams have lost the 100% win record.

I think it's going to be a crazy-tight league this year

Why do Liverpool and Man United sing about all the trophies they've won and history.

Because it's part of the club and a proud moment in our existence, something I encountered (and you I'd imagine) personally.

I don't get why anyone doesn't embrace celebrating it, even if we slumped down the leagues, I'd still be proud of what we achieved then.

JC Then there were 2

And they play against each other in their next league game so it will be down to (at most) one in 13 days time.
