melonhead
Royal Ginger Same as last time out but with Blackman in for HRK. Hopefully we'll have Guthrie on the bench who can replace Akpan when he runs out of running at about 75 minutes.

I'd like to see us play very defensively and hang on for a point. We'll get slaughtered if we go for three points.

guthrie for akpan?!!
for some defensive stability?!

LOL?!

Better at keeping possession, stronger in the tackle, better positioning, better at intercepting passes... Guthrie is unambiguously better defensively than Akpan.

Also, if you look closely you'll notice that isn't what he said.

The BBC match preview says Hector is banned for reaching 5 yellows. First I've heard of it . Surely they have it wrong

Ferdinand's return to fitness is well-timed but I'd feel more comfortable with Cooper tbh.

Cooper's certainly got more match practice and fitness than Ferdinand. I'd give the lad a go too personally.

Playing in a competitive match situation. Something Cooper's done far more recently than possibly fit again Ferdinand, who's played very little in about 18 months.

Cooper played v Sheffield Wed and looked good as the game went on.

As far as I'm concerned Guthrie is only good enough to put the cones out at training.

And no Robson-Kanu until the last 6 months of his current contract

Attacking midfield of HRK, Blackman, Taylor.
Mackie, and more importantly, Cox, left on the bench.

Either Adkins has got his eye on the more winnable home games of Rotherham and Charlton.
Or he's just a bit thick.

I can understand Blackman, even over Mackie just about. Particularly if you're going to stick Taylor left. It's a bit uninspiring with Mackie and Taylor on the wings. Cox must be carrying some sort of knock surely. I just can't get my head round HRK though. He's done nothing.

Desperately scrabbling for a silver lining, at least we have a bench with some proper clout. If we're not 3 down at 60 minutes, any changes we make could and probably should be game changers.

Williams returning is a huge plus. Let's ease him in gently. 10 - 15 minutes of foregone conclusion today would be a nice start.
