RFC 2014/15 Promotion push watch

by Big Foot » 16 Dec 2014 12:43

10 points off the play-offs, can we make it?

We're in the process of reconstructive surgery, having had the cancer that is Adkins rightfully cut away from the club

I think that with a following wind, we have an outsiders chance of reaching the play-offs at the very best & as we know, from there it's a lottery that the team with a following wind tend to do well in

On that basis, I've backed Reading to win promotion @ 33/1 with Skybet.

Merry Christmas

...to be fair 33/1 is decent odds and has to be worth a couple of quid just for the lolz!

Sadly I think we have dropped too many points so far this season.

I had defended Adkins up until recently but I can't argue that the change wasn't warranted. And I think Clarke will be a good manager. What won't change is 2 of our 3 available options at centerback will still be Hector and Cooper. I think both will turn out to be solid players eventually but right now they are both inexperienced and raw. Until a more experienced centerback can be brought in the results will remain underwhelming at best. So a promotion push this season? Doubtful...

Stranger things have happened. But I must agree the gap is getting a bit too big and when you think about it, that gap wouldn't shrink for some time as there is 15 other teams in our way.

Can't see past Bournemouth and one other this season. The playoffs are a lottery but I reckon we may also see Brentford playing Premier League football at Griffin Park come August. And that just pisses me off

Why? It would be brilliant to see Brentford in the Premier League.

Traditionally a club that's always been below us. Also I know quite a few Brentford fans who will really stick the oar in!

best club in London decent fans without either the moronic tendencies or the sense of entitlement of others (both in the case of West Ham)

I cant help thinking that some of our "injured" players will make a rapid recovery.

^ This, it's well known that the players hated Adkins and had no confidence in him

If that's the case let them go at the end of the season. The club pays the wages and they may not have like the manager but they should put in 100% to keep their short careers going

Interesting point about injured players..... Maybe a change of training regime will keep them fit and injury free?

Steve Clarke doesn't believe in training. He thinks pro footballers should be good enough and fit enough without wasting a couple of hours a day on running around a field.

I'd love to see Bournemouth and Brentford in the Prem. Yes, they have been big rivals of ours for years and there are probably 18 Championship clubs that think they are "bigger" but the pyramid structure of English league football is all about clubs being able to better themselves. To see that the Prem isn't a closed shop would be good for everyone.

Let's not get carried away. Mid table obscurity and a good push for it next season.

Perhaps we could manage a bit of a cup run this season...

No chance on us going up, but I'd love to see Bournemouth, Brentford and Ipswich go up this season.
