What? Newport County defender Ishmail Yakubu? I suppose with Ferdinand permanently injured, we need some cover.

AHAH I can't believe I just heard this.

Surely if we are trying to slash the wage bill this is the completely wrong signing?

is he better than Pog?

He's only 32 if it were true, I can only see it being a short term deal.

Playing in Qatar at the moment so, yes, semi retired.

32, so nowhere near as old as I thought he was, and the picture on wiki has him looking positively svelte. Considering his goalscoring record pretty much everywhere he has ever played, this has a big yes from me, if his wages aren't astronomical.

His current team AL Rayyan were relegated from the Stars league ( Qatar's top division ) scored 3 in 8 in that season. Now playing in the Q league (2nd tier in Qatar ) they are currently 2nd in the league winning 7 out of 9 but cannot find his goal scoring stats.

Before Qatar he scored 23 in 43 in China for Guangzhou R&F

According to wiki. He signed a 3 year deal in China but after a year he left. Didn't have a club in 2013/14. Fitness issues? Personal Issues? Makes you think if we are his last 'big' move

Lazy striker, who won't like the cold and is considered as a bit of a joke player in this country. For that reason, I'm out.

Could this be the 'Jason Roberts' type signing that some fans have been hoping for? Providing we aren't paying over the odds in wages, I can't see the harm in giving him a go until the end of the season.

Surely this is a wind up.

Student at Solent University says Yakubu is there having a medical in full Reading FC kit. Doesn't sound very likely.
