We appointed Brendan Rogers and made him work with a kick and rush team when he wanted to play passing football. We fired him for it, even though we knew his style.

We appointed McDermott and fired him for doing the impossible and not being able to keep us there with a bunch of average Championship managers.

We appointed Adkins and fired him because he couldn't make a bunch of average Championship players and youth team players play like they were top class Championship players.

Seems it's what we do now.

floyd__streete ^ that may well be true, I guess both he and we will have to settle for the fact that he remains by some chalk our greatest ever manager, eh :?:

I always thought it was a shame he was guilt-tripped into staying on for the 08/09 season tbh.....

Best ever team for sure. The trouble was, wherever he went he only built one team.

A thoroughly decent man nonetheless.

So they all got sacked for not being good enough managers then....

Conversely, Rodgers insisted that the likes of Kalifa Cisse should be expected to spray passes across the park and we would dominate opposition in terms of possession. He had neither the ability nor the will to compromise his style. And he was rightly sacked. And results improved, exponentially so, within weeks of him leaving.

McD shouldn't have been sacked at all, he should have been given the opportunity to rebuild in the Championship.

As for Adkins, our squad isn't 'a bunch of average Championship players and youth players'; we have the likes of MCleary, Pogrebnyak, Williams and have been able to call on the likes of Murray and Chalobah. The 'youth players' (Kuhl, Edwards) frankly bombed and were rightly phased out of the team. There is no way that our current squad should be 23 points behind the likes of Ipswich and the fact that we are is down to Adkins and Clarke and underperforming, badly organised players not to mention an ownership who gave us Murray for the first half of the season and Yakubu for the second half.....thanks for nothing, Thais.

You have this thing about Kuhl bombing... he was described as our best player in several of his performances.

On top of him Cooper certainly hasn't bombed. Nor has Hector, though he's perhaps a little beyond qualifying now. Tanner did well. Stacey got praise against Watford. In fact I can't think of anyone who has done particularly badly, although perhaps the likes of Edwards, Keown and Long haven't exactly done very well either.

We do have some very good Championship players, but the squad is frightfully unbalanced. LOL @ You if you were expecting anything significant from Yakubu.

Yakubu paid for himself with that one goal, that has probably covered most of his wages from January to the end of the season.

I'm not sure what the story is with Kuhl. A leader on the pitch? Yes. Great haircut? Undoubtedly but I had the pleasure of watching a number of youth games during the cup run and the amount of sloppy, misplaced passes that consistently got the team into trouble made me think he wasn't ready for the first team.

It seems to be a theme in our younger breakthrough players. Both Obita and Hector can display suicidal tendencies (despise all their good points - and there are many).

They all seem to switch off a number of times in the game.

That's because they are trained to be adventurous & have confidence in their ability in the academy, it's only through making mistakes they learn the limits and become more effective.

Guthrie out - +10 points
Top pedigree youngster from Chelsea to replace him for rest of the season - +10
Quality striker to provide alternative to Nick Blackman - +10

I look for slightly more than 1 goal to earn a decent pay day from signing an experienced striker.

PPG under Adkins 2014/15: 1.19

PPG under Clarke (if we lose tonight to the already relegated bottom side): 1.05

Thankfully, the good work of Adkins earlier in the season appears to have saved us from relegation.

I'm enjoying watching Villa tonight on TV. Now there's a team rejuvenated under their new manager and they're really playing for him

Then again, he has given them some form of direction unlike our joke of a manager.

I am genuinely surprised at the vitriol aimed at Clarke on here. The season was over when he got here & yet despite that we've got to a cup semi final.

Shut up you moaning fannies. Judge him next season.

Not as if Reading struggling against a team at the bottom is exclusive to Clarke. Even the 106 team managed to concede 3 goals against bottom of the table Crewe.

Clarke's record against the teams we're competing with is diabolical.
P11, W1, D4, L6

Thank oxf*rd Norwich, Ipswich and Wolves chucked us some charity. And we repaid them by letting Watford bend us over twice.

Not when they set the record they didn't.
