What is Clarkes style of play?

by TBM » 26 Apr 2015 08:32

Was sat with a couple of Brentford fans yesterday and one asked me "so what is Clarkes style of play?"

I honestly couldn't give him an answer.........

Do we actually know?

From what I have seen we seem to play more or less the same way under Adkins (which may explain our results). We passed it a lot yesterday and sometimes very well but our final balls to the forwards were awful.

However away from home we seem to be much more direct and keep it tight at the back and try nick a goal from somewhere.

defensive. Baggies friend of mine said we wouldn't score many goals when he heard we'd appointed him. How true he was.

Think his style is set up defensively and nick one on the counter or from a set piece. He should work on our set plays (both ends) as we've conceded from corners in our last two games

I wouldn't say it was ultra defensive. He'd set up to counter attack but when we went behind he'd throw the strikers on, but, at the expense of the Midfield. So they had nobody to feed them

So far he's been defensive and narrow, with a preference for powerful midfielders. Our build up play is still slow though.
