Half an hour in and not a shot in target by either team.

Er... no it's not. It has to be going in to be on target.

Just another example of stats and football not working.
Dribble little shot at the keeper = shot on target, everyone wets themselves
Cracking shot against the woodwork with the keeper beaten = not a stat therefore ignored

It IS a stat. It's called a shot off target. I feel like you're struggling with this concept...

Take the opponents out of the equation, is it a goal? If not then it's off target. Simple.

It's not on target because it's not been kicked where the opening of the goal is. If the goalie wasn't there it still wouldn't be a goal. Not denying it was a good chance but it really really wasn't on target.

Challenging rather than struggling.....

In terms of reflecting the game a shot against the woodwork is more significant than a weak shot straight at the keeper and a world of difference to a shot lasted 20 yards wide. Of course the artificial stats invented by Sky roll them all up into the same thing, but that reflects the weakness of trying to measure a game in numbers....other than goals!!
Personal opinion. Nothing more !!
