I note Guthrie already signed for Blackburn so I reckon this move might be on his recommendation.

Maybe he's trying to make amends to us.

sandman Good luck to him. Never really given a chance here by fans who could never get over the fact that he was signed in the Premier League and a manager who would drop him or take him off the pitch even when he was doing well. Shoulder injury whilst on international duty meant he was never really able to get going during Clarke's tenure.

Still say that if he was a 23 year old produced from the academy he would have been cut a lot more slack by supporters than he did as a 23 year old signed in the Premier League from another club.

Not sure I agree with that - if you look back to his first few months I was as pro-Akpan as anyone.

In fact - if you look at Bri Mc's last game, it was probably his decision to take Akpan off the field that received the most abuse.

Most people have just come to realise he's not very good.

Yeah, he was pretty good once the ball was under control and driving forward at space. But his first touch was heavy, he was easily pushed off the ball, his passing was tentative at best and players just ran past him with ease. Put in the worst substitute appearance I've ever seen and should have been taken off within 5 minutes of coming on too.

MoorgateRoyal I still think we could do with some cover. Like I said, if Akpan goes then I'd like someone else in.

It's a long season and it's extremely unlikely we'll get 46 games plus any cup games out of the centre midfielders.

Ain't the guy from Espanyol linked to us a Centre Mid....

I will always remember him for that through ball for Alf in our 2-2 with Chelsea.

Lol jk, I'll remember him for constantly falling over, skewed shots, sliced volleys, and for the most part, generally being a bit shit.

In fairness to Akpan he'd be a decent squad player but as has been mentioned he's clearly well down the pecking order so it's best for all parties if he moved on.

Feel a bit sorry for Blackburn though. Lose Gestede, maybe Rhodes, sign Guthrie and Akpan.

I'll always remember him for his hopeless air-kick from 8 yards out that put him on his arse up at Huddersfield.

I'm not looking forward to his only goal of the season sending us down at Ewood Park.

Don't be ridiculous. We'll be relegated at least 5 games before that.

Without wanting to sound too harsh on him, I am still absolutely dumbfounded that this guy plays at this level. And even more so that we picked him up whilst in the Premier League.

That ALF pass definitely went to his head.

It was a fantastic pass mind.

Looks like we've agreed to pay up his contract.

What are you basing that prediction on?
