Next Six Games

by Snowball » 27 Sep 2015 07:32

Three/four very winnable games and two/three tough tests. (Not sure how good Brighton are)

My thoughts are that if we can beat Boro (easier said than done) we could get 15/16/18 points from these games.

* I'd be happy enough with three wins (Charlton, Rotherham, Huddersfield) and three draws (Boro, Brighton, Fulham) but I suspect we will need to beat at least one of Boro-Brighton if we are looking at automatic promotion.

SAT 03 OCT H Middlesbrough
SAT 17 OCT H Charlton
TUE 20 OCT A Rotherham
SAT 24 OCT A Fulham
SAT 31 OCT H Brighton
TUE 3 NOV H Huddersfield

My picks are:

Beat Boro and we get 5 wins, draw at Fulham
Draw with Boro and we'll get * above

Don't want to contemplate a home defeat to Boro

Middlesboro is a tougher game than Brighton.

Brighton have started well but are built on a solid defence and are a typical solid Hughton side. Aside from Hull they've had a fairly easy start and all their wins have been by an odd goal....in fact we have a better goal diff than them.

They might make top 6 but I'd be very surprised if they are auto promotion contenders.

M'bro (H) D 0-0 - sorry chaps I'll be Jonahing it up
Charlton (H) W 3-1 Sa, Williams, Tish - I believe my jinx will fail at this point onwards
Rovrum (A) W 4-0 Sa, Blackers, Sa, John
Fulham (A) L 0-1
Brighton (H) W 2-0 Blackers, Piazon
'Uddersfeld (A) D 1-1 Sa

11 points.

I don't think we're quite there to get a massive haul or run yet and think we'll slip up somewhere.

0-0 or 0-1 with a sending off for Boro would be nice...

Much depends on whose available. Yesterday Quinn, Ferdinand and Vydra were missing through injury.
Burnley weren't at full strength either. Whose available on the day is going to make a difference this season. Still 39 games to go.

Don't really agree with that.

It looks like we have superb cover for every position and on Tuesday the supposed back up players looked every bit as good as the current 1st choice players despite not being as match sharp.

So a series of absences may not have much of an impact on performance.

I agree provided injuries don't stack up in one position.

Lose McShane as well as Ferdinand and I'd be nervous. Likewise Sa and Blackman. Three of the midfielders...

Cooper was great against Everton, but he had great games last year. And Watford and Birmingham. Lots of potential, bit too inexperienced yet. The odd game here and there will keep improving that.

Great to look at the fixtures and see in that run there are 4 home games and a good local away trip. I just want to see us play at the moment !

Well I thought it depended on Boro.

Now that is in the bag, this next five are all winnable, though Brighton
are still undefeated and Fulham, though inconsistent, can play well on
their patch.

Fact is 12 from 6 is championship form, and that is now 9 from 5

I still think we'll get 13 from these 5 games, but every run usually contains
a game we "should have won".

I'd particularly like us to beat Brighton, make sure they don't get away from us.
