Hopefully Yann can be the striker that we never gave Orlando the chance to be.

At 34 though, how many years can he give us? Just one? Two at the most?

Extended-Phenotype Not that fussed with this

May as well be another loan player considering his age. Not going to be part of future plans, leaves us in a bit of a Jason Roberts situation- Might be a short term benefit but leaves us trying to find and bed in a new striker when it really matters, rather than building a team now we can take into the Prem.

Considering our luck with injuries its worrying to see yet another old player on the books who is at risk of sitting out for long stretches.

Think you're letting the TB negativity affect you E-P.

500K for a proven goal scorer looks like a good bit of business. It's low risk as it's a 1.5 year not a 4 year contract and Brian gets a bit of experience into the team at the same time. Samuel can continue to develop on loan and aim for a squad place latter part of this season/start of next.

Bit meh at this. His record at this level is a bit mixed though good more recently. He's old. I don't really see him as a better option than Sa quality wise.

But. He doesn't seem to cost a lot, doesn't have a long deal and assuming Sa is off, offers something different to the others.

Not meltdown worthy either way, but not very inspiring.

Sa doesn't want to be here, it's pointless drawing comparisons.

My only real memory of Kermogant is the chipped penalty in the p/o semi-final. Never forgot his name after that and noticed he scored a bit for Bournemouth but always assumed he was a bang average.

We need a striker and he would appear to fit the bill so good luck to him. Hope he doesn't struggle given how bad we are at crossing a ball in.

Kermorgant? Why-oh-why?

Only joking, good signing. I understand Last of The Summer Wine were also interested.

^ Tbf whenever we do sign someone for millions they almost always turn out to be absolute flops. 2.5 million to loan Vydra for a season FFS

How old is he? I'm assuming at least 55 from the comments on here?

So it's no better than a loan and gets us no closer to building a side. Just don't see the point in it.

When was the last time Reading bought a decent striker?

I'd rather have Sa, but his goal record over the last few years is excellent.

Little bit worried that he might not be at his best, but as long as he's better than at Leicester...

I remember the impact a 34 year old stiker had for Reading.

Jimmy Quinn.

Lets hope this guy has the same affect.

..................and why is it so difficult to spell confirmed?

He has 6 goals this season in all competitions. If he gets 10 more will you still be saying that?

BM wanted to bring in another striker on a shorter deal, in this case 18 months - to give Domonic Samuel more time to develop. Potentially, not a bad signing.

Plus we may yet sign another striker, maybe one who is young and raw and needs the rest of the season to settle/adapt to this level.
