Worst miss

by CountryRoyal » 23 Jan 2016 22:59

Feel Yann's "effort" today warranted discussion. What's the worst miss you can remember from a Reading player?

Cox v brum this season
Long v Peterborough 09/10

Shamefully could probably go on.

Les Ferdinand somehow managed to squander a chance from approximately two yards out against Leicester in the cup.

Not a Reading player, but a Reading game - in fact, the very Reading game where I became a Royals supporter when I was 8 years old.
Reading 3-3 Forest, Steve Stone.

Long hitting the bar from a yard out against Peterborough in 2010? Rebound was scored by Sig of course, but it was a terrible miss.

Can't see how that can be topped IMO. Ferdinand was at least under pressure for his miss.

That was a deliberate pass off the bar for Siggy. (Long already had a goal, so...)

This, from a player who had just made the England squad.

Not a Reading player, but iirc Steve Bruce missed an open goal from about 3 yards for Utd in the 3-0 FA Cup defeat circa 97, sky'd over, so not even the bar like Long.

The cameras weren't around much in Brayson's day but clearly he must have quite a few contenders for the award. However, would probably be snatched from his hands by an opponent - take a bow Steve Stone!

I remember that, scooped over the bar from about 5 yards with an empty goal in front of him and no one in the 6 yard box.

The 'eeh aww' went but fair play to him, he came over to the Southbank and acknowledged the abuse. Top bloke!

Worst miss of all time for me. Even tops Rosenthal. A timeless classic
